Is it worth spending the extra money on Corian or Granite? I have opted for high gloss cream units what colour floor and worktops would you go for. I was thinking of black granite worktops but really don't know about the floor!

Heathcliffscathy · 05/05/2008 13:52

noddyholder · 05/05/2008 13:52

Ive got 6 metres of brand new solid oak untreated worktop going spare if you want to make me an offer!!

Is corian a much better worktop than granite -whats the difference?

I have ruled out a wooden worktop - dont want anything that I have to treat in the future.

we have a work-top similar to corian...called Capri its quite a bit cheaper. Its supposed not to be as hard wearing but we put pans directly from the stove onto it and its not marked. It does scratch but we dont do anything to it and after a few wipes over the scratches disappear
have had it for about 3 years now and it is great. I really love it

Fizzylemonade · 05/05/2008 17:52

I believe corian is a composite made with a resin so it's relatively hard-wearing whereas granite is a natural product cut to size.

I would opt for corian everytime with an undermount sink also in corian so that there is no seam.

Never have more than 3 colours in a room, golden rule.

i've heard that corian stains.
