Apart from hot tray, what’s the best way to keep food hot?

How much difference does the material that the pot is made of make for example?

I’m looking ahead to Christmas Day but also thinking of regular roast dinners for extended family, ie when there are quite a few to cater for.
How best to keep all the food hot before having everyone tuck in.

Warm the plates and serve up on to the plates.
If you do want / need to use serving dishes, then warm them before putting any food in them.

Use a hostess trolley
