ok I've had a mental blockage. I have 2 walls in my bathroom that need repainting (the other 2 are tiled from floor to ceiling). At the moment one paint on one of the walls is all flaking, bubbly and generaly disgusting (not helped by previous damp problem - which is now resolved, and the use of "ordinary" paint in their by previous owners instead of bathroom paint, despite the fact it gets very steamy in there).

So I want to repaint it, but I'm going to have to do something to prepare it for painting. Going to put a coat of damp sealant stuff underneath first, and then paint......

but what do I do to remove the paint that's still on there. I should know I've done enough DIY, and my mum was constantly decorating and we always helped out, but my mind is a total blank as to how to prepare these walls.......

sounds like the flakey paint should be sanded off first, then wash the wall with sugar soap to get rid of any grimey bits.

ahhhh - that's it - thankyou - I knew I "knew" what it was I needed to do, but my mind is still all over the place (except for where it should be) and couldn't remember.
