Horrid synthetic floral smell on chair

Bought a 2nd hand IKEA chair on FB Marketplace. Noticed when we got it home that it smells really strongly of synthetic floral deodoriser. Febreze or something equally horrid.

DH says we need to buy a new seat cushion from IKEA, which rather defeats the objective of getting it cheap on Marketplace.

Lesson learned - but is there any way of getting rid of the smell? Can't be in the same room with it.

Bicarbonate of soda is an odour absorber. Put the seat cushion in a bin bag and throw a couple of tubs in and leave it as long as possible. Brush a load more over the rest of the chair and leave it as long as possible before hoovering it all off.

Thanks. Too late! DH has just ordered the most expensive new one from IKEA.
I might try Bicarb on the cushion & then selling it.

The frame is wooden so that's not an issue.
