It's in our dining room, is currently painted white.

We are painting our dining room and are a bit stuck with what to do with this.

Do we paint it the same as the wall colour or make a feature of it?

What shall we put in the hole?

Thanks

Get a plasterer to skim over it?

newgirl · 21/04/2008 22:09

its not that bad! i would def knock it out though - it looks a diy job and id rather have the space and a nice cabinet!

I think it looks quite chic with the wooden floor - stacked with logs would be a minimalist kind of feature. Line up square glass candle holders along the shelf above. Would look great for a dinner party?

Depends a lot on what furniture goes in the rest of the room too.

Mmmm it ain;t that pretty. If you don't want to get rid of it, I would paint it in a neutral colour that contrasts a bit with the walls. I would put flowers in the gap. Well I would intend to, but mostly they would be dead and dropping petals.

Well as dh is not up for knocking it out, it stays!

We have decided to piant it the same colour as teh walls (wicker type shade) and will fill it with logs. Like teh candle idea on teh mantle too, but when ever I put anything on there my bloody cat bats it off.

Thanks all.
