Does anyone else swap plates or is it only me?

I swap round the plates (and other crockery) so the top ones don’t get used all the time. It seemed sensible but now I’m wondering if it’s completely bonkers. Please tell me it’s not just me that does this?

Yes, absolutely do this. Seems entirely normal to me. They come out of dishwasher and I replace at the bottom of the (open shelf) pile. However I do assume my husband does not do this.

No, never occurred to me to do this. (Worries about sad neglected bottom plates)

My underwear, however, is always taken from the top of the pile and clean ones put at the bottom of the pile. Like any right minded person.

Oh my God. I've got happy plates but sad underwear. Is that why my pants make me look so lumpy and wobbly? Revenge?

Thanks for your comments. It’s good to know it’s not just me doing this and I’m glad I don’t have sad plates! You’re a lovely bunch with your concern for the feelings of inanimate objects!

I live alone although I do have fairly frequent visitors but I still have all the Denby crockery I bought in 1993 when there were five of us in the household. I don’t have any posh stuff hidden away, I use the Denby every day and for visitors but I have a huge drawer full and probable only use two or three of each type in a week!

The worst for me was going through my glasses when I was packing up ready for a new kitchen to find that I had over 100 glasses of various sizes, including 24 champagne flutes used once for my sons 21st - he is now 41! I actually got rid of most of them and reduced my stock to fit on two shelves in a wall cupboard. I also found six sets of cutlery so I threw them all away and bought a new set to use all the time..
