Hi all,

I recnetly refurbished two bathrooms ! Dont want blockages hence researching options of hair catcher for basin, bathtub and shower!
Both has push button basin waste - I am finding it hard to find a hair catch for basins! Any suggestions?

Also any suggestions for bathtub ( no push button drain) and shower drain ( like image below)

Commenting cos I want to know too! I want something that works to stop the problem happening....... not something to solve it once it already has.

Do the plugs not have them built in? Unusual for a modern push button to not come out with a cup catcher below

Yes the Macalpine shower trap has one - but I dont think its works best!

However for basins - there is none! I am fed up of cleaning blockages !!

No idea if this works or not but I've been considering it. There are cheaper copies on eBay.

Hi OP
I've been using the Oxo good grips one ever since we had our bathroom redone. I only use it when washing my hair - my husband doesn't bother. I think it's the best option, no hair gets through because of the rubbery material, and I just wipe it off after every shower and flush or bin it. It does make your water drain slower though, as obviously it's slightly blocking the flow. Not at issue for me as our shower is over a bath.

Thank you for your reply! Do you use in bathtub or shower?
I am seriously considering buying that....

@skuml in the bath, we don't have a separate shower. It'll fit over lots of different plugs though I think because of the size

Saschka · 18/05/2024 19:23

I have the good grips one too - works perfectly. Recommend it.

Use the oxo good grips one in the shower, it's excellent. Also makes it easier to clean the main trap underneath. Would say it catches a good 95% of hair. I wouldn't worry for a bath, I rarely wash my hair when having one and sink I usually fish stuff out with a drain weasel type thing.
