Stained gas burner - what cleaning products to use

We had a new gas oven/hob put in in March. For some reason in the last day one of the burners has developed a huge brown stain on the top and the bottom. DP is adamant he hasn’t cooked and over spilled anything but admittedly is a terrible cook and I definitely haven’t but I’ve scrubbed and scrubbed with various cleaning products and it won’t come off- it’s not even budging!

Even if it was a food spillage I didn’t think this would somehow stain the underneath of the burner! I only cleaned it yesterday so this has developed over the last 24 hours- any ideas what it could be and how to get it off?!

It looks very uniform. Could it be a chemical reaction between your cleaning product and the metal?

It looks like cooked on oil! Has someone maybe spilt something on the hob when it was off and then it's been baked on when it was next turned on?

I use pink stuff paste all over on my hob, but not more than a quick swipe over the aluminium bits because they don't tend to get particularly dirty. It does take the odd splash off, but I don't know how they'd stand up to a proper scrubbing with it.

@DatingDinosaur hmm could be, that would explain why it’s on the top and the bottom but it’s only one of the rings that are stained and I used the same cleaning products all over

@GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut possibly DP however he is still claiming innocence!

I think I may have to replace them because it’s not budging what ever it is. I’ve tried pink stuff, bicarb and vinegar, hob cleaner, lemon juice and scoured as if my life depends on it. I think it’s on there for life at this point!
