Can I wash a wooden ride on under the shower?

It is utterly filthy, covered in mud after a messy trip to the park.

I normally wipe it down with a cloth but this is too much to handle. Will it swell the wood, or never dry out?

Oh, and I should add said mud is firmly dried on as I left it in the hall yesterday and have only just thought about cleaning it.

Won't the mud brush off with a stiff brush?

I think I would take a stiff brush to it outside first (assuming you have one - if not, go and buy one immediately!!!) - then wipe it down with a damp cloth.

Is it varnished? (Or was it originally?)

I don't have a stiff brush. I have DH's shoe polish brush, lol.

Wendywebber it is painted with green and black gloss. It is a 'funky cow' that a friend of ours made for them.

Thanks, I sprayed it with cleaner then I blasted it with the shower and it's looking good now.

I just couldn't be arsed with washing cloths , flooretc (we have no outside space)
