Does anyone else not have or want a dishwasher?

We had our new kitchen fitted at Christmas and everyone that comes round keeps asking why we don't have a dishwasher

I hate them and don't want one, reason enough!

I love mine. I don't have that much crockery (10 of each - is that a lot?), or cutlery, but we never run out. It frequently goes on twice a day though, as I'm a SAHM, so we have two hot meals a day.

I put allsorts in it - fridge bits, microwave plate, cooker parts, our dustpan and brush went in yesterday (had used it to sweep up glass and beer when I dropped a load of beer from the fridge), and even toothbrushes (DS2 continually takes my toothbrush, then leaves it round the house)!

Our drying cycle isn't optional, but if it's going on in the evening after dinner, I just switch it off when it gets to that part, and leave the door shut over night. The heat from the washing is enough to dry them usually.

cheesesarnie - I have one dc who is in washable nappies plus step-daughter for half the wk and another on the way. We just use the line, clothes horses and radiators plus the towel rail in the bathroom. At least our house is quite big so there's room for it all.
