Oh, how my Friday nights have changed…

Please can you give me the absolute best floor cleaner for kitchen tile? I use a microfibre mop and like something I can dilute in very hot water but open to suggestions!

Thanks Smile

I’ve not really found anything that’s amazing so I just buy one that smells ok and add a little bit of fairy liquid to it. The bubble's make it feel like it’s cleaning properly but it can be slippy if used on certain floors. So maybe not a very helpful response!

Hopefully someone else will come along with some ideas for you.

I prefer using an old fashioned style string mop but with microfibre 'strings'. I can't get on with the flat mops that fold to squeeze out the water. The adverts make out that they're so quick and easy but I've never found them to be better than the old fashioned style of string mop. While we're talking about mops, I make sure that the mop head gets washed regularly too.

Then to the washing agent. I use an all purpose cleaner diluted in hot water. My preferred flavour is 'savon de Marseille', and while it's ubiquitous in my French supermarket I'm not sure if it's available in British supermarkets. I'm sure some lemon Flash would do the job however.

For a really stubborn mark removal I use savon de Marseille soap flakes dissolved in hot water. Our outdoor teak table came up beautifully with a scrub with a brush and soap mixture. Again I'm not sure you'll find these in Tesco's but if you're ever in a French supermarket you could pick some soap flakes up.

What sorts of tiles are they Op?

Elbow grease works on my flag floors. Spray on neat leave for five mins and then scrub and rinse.

What sorts of tiles are they Op?

They are a limestone-effect porcelain tile. They have a dark grout which always looks grubby to me!

love the Savon de Marseille suggestion, will look online!
