Removing poppy stains from blue-and-white striped cotton trousers

Hi!
My DD was in a poppy field wearing a pair of blue-and-white striped cotton trousers today and there are lots of little reddish spots all over the bottom of the (new) trousers now. I've been trying lots of things to get them out, but so far unsuccessfully. I have soaked them in lukewarm water with detergent and now put a bicarb paste on the stains - as suggested by someone on the Internet. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Many thanks in advance!

Washing up liquid massages into the stain removes most things I find. Otherwise sodium percarbonate - AKA green bleach. Couple of tablespoons dissolved in very hot water (recently boiled kettle) it'll bubble like crazy. Then cool the solution to tepid before you add the trousers. The hot water is needed to activate the "bleach". Then soak overnight and wash as normal. It's colour safe.

Many thanks @DiscontentedWoman !!! 😊 I'd never heard of sodium percarbonate but must look for it asap. It's good to know it's colour safe so won't bleach the blue stripes, hopefully. I've tried washing up liquid several times, but it has had no effect whatsoever. Ditto liquid detergent. So, I'm going to leave the trousers soaking in detergent and bicarbonate of soda meanwhile and try to get some sodium percarbonate tomorrow. Thanks again!
