Help - I left spray marks on metal (steel?) kitchen hood

I need help, please. A while ago I cleaned my kitchen hood with something (I can't remember what it was). I saw it left some lighter metal marks where I sprayed but thought it would go away when I next cleaned. It hasn't... I need help as this is not my appartment and I'm a bit worried about it.

Any advice from someone that has managed to remove such marks would be much appreciated.

I also noticed a similar effect on my fridge door. I had hung a children's painting with scotch tape and when I removed it, I could see lighter metal marks where the tape once was...

Many thanks to everyone in this community! I really appreciate it and appreciate people willingly giving their time to help one another through this forum.

I think the fridge door probably has residue from the sticky tape. There is a product called Goo Gone (or Sticky Stuff Remover) that is great at dealing with this. Or, you could try patiently massaging a little sunflower oil in circular motions.

For the cooker hood, there is a product called Howard Natural Stainless Steel Cleaner, available on Amazon but you might have a cheaper stockist near you.

We've just got a new cooker hood and had a similar problem after wiping it down saw on google that, applying a thin coating of olive oil with a cloth or piece of kitchen towel over the whole thing removes any streaks or finger prints, worked a treat for us.

Yes, it's oil that you need. Wipe over with a little bit of baby oil on some kitchen roll, or WD40.

Clean it again and buff with a microfibre cloth. Works well on my stainless steel oven.
