Futon - how do you clean them? (Jay-be futon chair)

We've just bought a second hand bed which comes with a futon chair underneath it. It is in really good condition but the futon could do with a freshen up. The cover is zipped but the "matress" inside looks a little like compacted foam/felt/hair ? Just not quite sure what the best way is to clean it as I can't see any instructions.

Try a dry cleaner such as neutrodol carpet fresh or bicarb of soda.Leave for a good while and hoover it well.If we get some nice weatherput it out in the sun for a while

I would vigorously beat the futon mattressp art with a broom outside and then vaccum it.

I've done that poodlepusher thanks, there are a couple of "water?" marks on it and I'm not sure how to remove these.
