How to clean a tobacco stained lampshade?

Old, lovely vintage lampshade - it's supposed to be cream or white but is actually rather yellow!

I think it's cotton sateen/chintz fabric, is there a safe way to clean it without damaging it/melting the glue?

TIA

Several.

(1) Toilet soap - cheap as poss. flannel, water. Wet flannel, wring out, rub on soap, then use it to gently sponge the shade

(2) Vanish. Make a paste (not runny because you need to be able to brush it off as soon as it's done it's job), then wipe with wet cloth. NB this may make it very white and scarily new looking

(3) Vodka, soft cloth - dab it off. Will take hours.

Wow - Thankyou so much, I went to bed after posting so didn't realise anyone had answered till just now.
Sorry if I seemed rude not saying thanks straight away!

I think there is vodka, definitely have vanish.
