Any tips for cleaning baby vomit out of little leather Inch Blue shoes?

DS has brought up some dinner into his little skull and crossbone shoes, which he loves to stare at and play with as well as wear. They must be saved! Can I soak them, or will they just fall apart? What will take the smell away?

He is little, so it's not horrible puke, mostly milk but not entirely. In other words, still a bit smelly.

on their site it says clean with a damp cloth

robeez which are the same say you can hand wash or even machine wash them

Oh thanks, I never even thought to check the website .

Has anyone actually chucked them in the machine and had them survive? They are expensive, don't want to ruin them, but I don't think a damp cloth will do it this time!
