How much clean do you do a day?

QueeenBee · 20/01/2024 21:56

I feel like I just clean and tidy all day but my house is never as clean as I would like!

Most days

Wash dishes 4/5 times a day (waiting on new dishwasher arriving next week)

Hoover living room, hallway and kitchen

Clean downstairs bathroom

Spot clean sofas as needed

General wipe around with zoflora

Wipe toddlers fingerprints off furnitur

Mop kitchen floor

clean the kitchen sides as needed

One load of laundry a day

My weekly jobs are

Change everyone's bedding

Wash all windows in house

Hoover bedrooms and wipe down with zoflora

Clean the bathrooms

Deep clean recycling bins

Do all the ironing

Clean the car.

I also try to organise and declutter every week if I have the energy and time.

I always feel like everything is all piling up and I never have the beautiful clean home like all those women on instagram. Is it just me or is everyone like this? Forgot to mention I have a 22 month old ds who doesn't go to nursery and a newborn.

From your daily jobs list, the only one I do daily is wipe the kitchen surfaces as needed

The only one of your weekly jobs I do weekly is clean the bathrooms.

I don't have a baby and toddler either.

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 20/01/2024 23:47

It might be you. What happens such that your windows and car needs to be cleaned weekly?

TheSmallAssassin · 20/01/2024 23:55

We will keep on top of the kitchen (dishwasher, husband does washing up once a day and one of us will wipe the surfaces down) and tidy up after ourselves, but that's all we do on a day to day basis. We're out at work all day, but even when we had a day at home with the kids each that was all that got done.

TheSmallAssassin · 20/01/2024 23:58

I've never cleaned a recycling bin either, in the twenty years we've had one! The plastic and metal recycling gets washed up and the bottles rinsed out, so it's never got dirty enough to warrant it.

Meadowfinch · 21/01/2024 00:00

Daily - clean down the sink & worktops. Load the dishwasher. I also cook from scratch, do school runs & work full time

Weekly - Clean bathrooms, hoover all rooms, four loads of laundry. Iron shirts, Change beds. Mop kitchen floor.

The weekly stuff takes me three hours early on Sunday morning, then I'm free for the day. I don't have a toddler though.

Stop looking at Instagram. It's not real. You're wasting your life chasing an illusion.

Aposterhasnoname · 21/01/2024 00:01

Clean the car and windows weekly! Fuck that.

Daily-wipe kitchen and bathroom surfaces, load/unload dishwasher/washer dryer, iron. The robot hoover does the floors.
Weekly - vac, mop, dust, change sheets, properly clean the bathroom and kitchen.

Twice a year if you're lucky - clean windows, car, oven.

Lizzieregina · 21/01/2024 00:02

You do a lot!

Your daily routine is about what I do once a week. I load/unload the dishwasher every day and wipe the kitchen counters.

I haven’t cleaned my car since I got it 😬 and I do my windows twice a year, or once if I forget!

I probably do 3/4 loads of laundry a week (2 adults).

When I had small kids I did even less but more washing.

ETA I iron once or twice a year, maybe!

Geraldneedsasecondclassstamp · 21/01/2024 00:06

The only thing we do every day without fail is

Me: laundry
Husband: wash all dishes throughout the day

Hoovering is twice a week. Dusting once. Anything else just as it's needed.

Life's too short.

BattyOwl · 21/01/2024 00:08

Every day I. ...

Hoover the house
Do the kitchen
Tidy all rooms
Wipe over the toilets
Put a laundry load on

Twice weekly I

Clean bathrooms
Dust everywhere

Weekly I

Change all beds
Wash all
Towels and bath mats

And in between I de clutter if needed, put everything in its place as I like it, mop the hard floors, wipe over skirting boards

I probably average about an hour or so of cleaning a day with a little extra on top every week or two:

I don't do my car - I take that to be valeted and washed every 6-8 weeks

I'm by no means fanatical but I like my environment to be clean and tidy and don't mind doing it

Howmanysleepsnow · 21/01/2024 00:13

Daily- about an hour tidying, plus dishes twice, clean kitchen surfaces (Total 2 hours daily)

Twice a week- sweep all floors, clean bathroom, do 2 loads of laundry, empty bins, take out recycling (about 3.5h x2)

I do cook from scratch (about an hour a day), food shop (an hour a week), walk the dog (an hour a day), run 4dc various places and work a 40 hour week so a total of 21h housework, 7h cooking, 7h dog, 8h taxi on top feels a lot, despite never being on top of anything

AlltheFs · 21/01/2024 00:14

Daily? Nothing really. Empty and load dishwasher and wipe kitchen surfaces. That’s it apart from laundry.

Weekly we clean the bathroom and hoover. Mop floors when we can be bothered. That’s about it.

Dusting was last done early December. I embrace the cobwebs, they add character to the beams.

We don’t iron, don’t clean windows, don’t clean the cars and rarely clean the bins unless there’s been a leak.

I don’t own any Zoflora or similar.

No offence @QueeenBee but just enjoy your kids and stop with all the unnecessary cleaning. It sounds absolutely batshit.

We don’t really tidy, it’s just sort of naturally tidy. I expect we do all spend some time putting things away each day but it’s not a specific task. Everything does have a home and gets put back when we have finished with it.

Snowflakesonhisnose · 21/01/2024 00:20

Here are my top tips: give up Instagram and spend less of your life cleaning. I can guarantee you'll be much more content.

mrsfollowill · 21/01/2024 00:21

Always wash up after every meal so 3 x a day and worktops wiped down. No dishwasher as no room.
Bathroom- toilet cleaned most days but a proper clean of bathroom x 1 a week.
Laundry- 1 load a day at this time of year to spread the drying out (wfh)
Hoover x 1 a week - dust/polish twice a month?!
I spend as little time as I can get away with doing bloody housework- will add I have a DH and adult DS living here so we share the jobs - eg DS does the most hoovering- DH most of the washing up - I'm laundry fairy. We all work full time and housework is tedious but I won't live in a shit tip!
Inside of windows/curtain washing/skirtings dusting is a once a year job here.
We are a bit cluttered - got a skip a couple of years ago which was brilliant- will get another this Spring and and have a massive blitz.

Pacifybull · 21/01/2024 00:22

I don’t do most of that. I might clean windows once a year. Hoovering maybe every two weeks. Change beds maybe once a month in winter, more frequently in summer. There are no daily jobs apart from washing-up and putting dishes away, not counting cooking.

chocopop123 · 21/01/2024 00:23

I clean the worktops daily.
Hoover the living room quite frequently and bathroom sinks/toilets.
Probably do about 4 loads of washing a week.

Never clean windows or the car (take it to get cleaned rarely).
Never iron except once in a blue moon if it’s a special occasion and necessary.
Don’t know what Zoflora is but I don’t have it.

Computercalendar · 21/01/2024 00:25

People hoover the house everyday?

ShinyBandana · 21/01/2024 00:30

Every day the dishwasher, hand-dishwashing and kitchen worktops - DH usually does this.

Every day one load of laundry. I iron on Sunday - just bare minimum - my work stuff mainly.

Cleaner comes 4hrs once per week and does all hoovering , dusting, moping and bathrooms.

DH cleans the windows (inside) maybe once a year and the window cleaner comes every 6 weeks. Neither of us have ever cleaned inside our car. Though I have brushed dog hairs off seats occasionally.

I only change the beds once a fortnight. Interesting that most on here do it weekly.

PollyPeep · 21/01/2024 00:32

This is a wind up thread surely? 😅

Snowflakesonhisnose · 21/01/2024 00:35

It's hilarious isn't it. I couldn't be bothered to type out such a long listof chores, never mind do them
😆

Aquamarine1029 · 21/01/2024 00:35

What does your husband do? Because he should definitely be doing a fair share.

mathanxiety · 21/01/2024 00:35

I don't iron, and I cook at most twice a week.

SavBlancTonight · 21/01/2024 00:38

That's excessive OP.

Our house can be a bit cluttered glares at dad's bedroom in particular but it's pretty clean and we do a fraction of that. Cleaners come fortnightly and do a proper clean - dusting, vacuuming, mopping etc.

Yes to endless cleaning in kitchen - we have a dishwasher but there is an endless amount of loading/unloading, wiping down surfaces etc. But it's all pretty quick and easy.

Ditto we generate a lot of laundry so machine is on often but again, not hugely onerous - put it on. Hang up or tumbedry I'd towels/bedding, fold up and everyone puts their own away.

Robot vacuum does downstairs twice a week, our bedroom twice a week and dc's bedrooms once a week (max). Toilets get some harpic tossed down daily, quick wipe down of sink/toilet every few days (although we are all trained not to leave toothpaste/hair etc when using). I usually do a quick proper clean of Bath and sinks in the week between cleaner visits.

Mopping once a week usually.

Windows is every few months, definitely not weekly. I take the car to be done professionally about 4 times a year. Dh sometimes does a quick vacuum but that's maybe once every few weeks.

The food caddy has liners but I do bleach it or stick in dishwasher every few weeks. Ditto there are various other tasks that only have to be done occasionally but that I do one or two of each week- de-limescale/deep clean/clean filters for various appliances, clean glass things that are not put away like glass lamps and vases, clean inside fridge, wipe down walls and doors etc.

Babla · 21/01/2024 00:44
