Laundry room upstairs or down

Getting a double extension and have the plans. We will have quite a decent sized downstairs utility/boot room. Talked about getting a shoot down to it as well.
But keep thinking about trying to get the washer/dryer upstairs. There is not an obvious space for this though. We could take out some of the main bathroom but that would mean having a bath/shower as opposed to a bath and seperate shower cubicle. Or take a huge chunk out of my dream dressing room maybe.
what are people’s thoughts on the pros and cons of an upstairs laundry room? Have you moved it upstairs and been pleased/ regretted it?

In the US, i think the whole laundry room upstairs is more common. Mine is in the cellar of the house, and its a slog. Everything has to come downstairs and then go up two flights of stairs. Its a pain in the arse.

Have a sit and think about the flow of laundry. Where does it come from and go. What is the best location, and any disadvantages of that.

For us, the laundry room should be upstairs. The only down side would be that wet jackets and shoes would soemhow have to be dealt with without going upstairs. Too late for us to change it now, but in the next house....
