Bit Embarrassed...

So inlaws left this pm after a week with us for Christmas. Was lovely, but when I've come to clean the ensuite, have found what can only be described as concrete in the bowl.😖DH won't touch it, don't even know where to start and I'm so embarrassed by the whole thing. What do I do????💩

Caustic soda

PinkMimosa · 27/12/2023 20:37

No idea sorry but why would they leave it like that? I'd be very clear with DH that it's his DP's and it's his problem. I would probably buy him some extra strong rubber gloves though.

Christmasrelatedusername · 27/12/2023 20:38

It’s a really corrosive chemical though. You need to wear a mask with it and if you were using it at work they’d make you wear goggles and gloves.

NugsNotDrugs · 27/12/2023 20:38

His parents, his problem.

DarkDarkNight · 27/12/2023 20:40

Your husband won’t touch it but he expects you to? Nice. What is his suggestion?

Slibub · 27/12/2023 20:45

Hot water

Becc91 · 27/12/2023 20:45

Thanks all, to clarify about my husband, he has a "phobia" of 💩ever since DD was born ... can't argue with him about it although any suggestions for convincing him would be much appreciated. Do you think it is worth taking a stand on this, I really need the 💩gone as my parents will be staying in the same room over new year.

Boil the kettle, pour in. Works every time. May require a repeat application or two but it will work.

But yes. Tell DP to do it.

DinaofCloud9 · 27/12/2023 20:47

How convenient for your husband. Hmm.

Icouldbehappy · 27/12/2023 20:48

I don’t really understand how shit can be like concrete? Am I missing something?
Either way, I’d pour a whole bottle of bleach on it, put the lid down and leave it for a while before flushing it.
The kettle of boiling water is also a good suggestion.

TheOccupier · 27/12/2023 20:49

So your husband developed a phobia of poo as soon as he had a child in nappies? What a prince.

Gnomegnomegnome · 27/12/2023 20:50

Why are you embarrassed by someone else’s poo?

Chuck some boiling water down there.

Newuser75 · 27/12/2023 20:50

Boiling water works a treat.

Radiatorvalves · 27/12/2023 20:50

Bleach. Not a whole bottle. Leave for a bit and flush. Stubborn bits? More bleach and give DH the bog brush.

AngelsandAliens · 27/12/2023 20:52

I’m with you , have I missed a code word for something , concrete ? Huh

Catsknowbest · 27/12/2023 20:53

Hot water and dishwasher tablet and leave overnight

scoutingfor · 27/12/2023 20:53

Another one not understanding what you mean by concrete. If there is shit in my toilet I put down some bleach. If it remains I reapply.

gamerchick · 27/12/2023 20:56

Turd or skids?

Please dont pour boiling water down the pan. You risk a cracked toilet. Why do people risk this stuff is beyond me

If it's a turd then just chop it up with the toilet brush and chuck it. If it's skids, smother it in gel, leave for a bit and give it a go. Rinse and repeat and tell your bloke to get a fucking grip of himself. Phobia since kid was born indeed. Walked right into that one you did.

Mumof1andacat · 27/12/2023 20:56

Coco cola might remove it

clareth · 27/12/2023 20:56

Don’t pour boiling water down, it could crack the pan!
Honestly a bit of bleach all around, lid down and leave overnight, flush in the morning, it’ll be gone.

flowerchild2000 · 27/12/2023 20:57

The only thing is, boiling water would create poo steam!!

I would soak it down with bicarbonate soda and vinegar. Repeat applications until it can be scrubbed normally.

flowerchild2000 · 27/12/2023 20:57

Mumof1andacat · 27/12/2023 20:56

oh yes, this. Just leave it to soak.

Becc91 · 27/12/2023 20:58

Thanks for all the suggestions so far!
To be honest I'm as confused as you about why it's so tough- but concrete really is the word that comes to mind. Have never seen anything like it, and really don't want to get too close to find out more.
Have shown this thread to DH, he says it's my ensuite so I should clean it?? (He retiled it for me over summer). Worried it might be a me job yet again 😷

His parents, his problem, that’s disgusting.

Oh, what a convenient phobia for him to have developed at such a convenient time… I don’t believe him, do you?

Has he sought treatment for it?!? Didn’t think so.

Take a photo and send it to them 🤣 as it’s savage of them to do that when they know their son has a terrible phobia!!!

gamerchick · 27/12/2023 21:04

It's set like that because it's been there a while OP. It'll come off don't worry.
