Bit Embarrassed...

So inlaws left this pm after a week with us for Christmas. Was lovely, but when I've come to clean the ensuite, have found what can only be described as concrete in the bowl.😖DH won't touch it, don't even know where to start and I'm so embarrassed by the whole thing. What do I do????💩

No I don’t get the concrete description. Is it as though it went in liquid and solidified? Or a piece of concrete in which case couldn’t you use fire rings or similar snd pluck it out?

Sorry auto correct: fire tongs

You could pour some Fairy Liquid on the worst bits and leave it overnight.

Actually fairy liquid might be a really good call. It works best for baby pop stains as it is designed to dissolve food grease - which I’m hoping is what FIL was consuming …

Has either of them had a barium meal recently? When DH had one it settled in the bottom of the toilet and was really hard to shift.
Repeated flushing helped - it got smaller each time.

I came to suggest the same. I discovered what looked like concrete in the toilets at work and it turned out to be a barium meal results.

Loubelle70 · 27/12/2023 22:55

If its a heavy poo 😁 then put quite a bit loo paper down loo to cover the top leave to get wet then full flush

Moredarkchocolateplease · 27/12/2023 22:58

Use a stick. A bit of garden cane. Poke vigouriously which will break it up.

Take a bin bag with you and once finished put the stick in the bin bag and all into the outdoor bin.

Had a child who was often v constipated and regularly had to dispose of the poo!

If it’s so tough I’m really not seeing why it can’t be picked up ( with some kind of utensil obviously). Or has it set like a jelly ( ie; edge to edge in the bowl)?

PringPring · 27/12/2023 23:05

So in-laws were happy to leave this for you to clean up after you'd hosted them. And their son is happy for you to scrape his parents shit off your ensuite toilet and refuses to do it himself. 😡

Wowsers.

Calliopespa · 27/12/2023 23:05

Just be careful not to mix bleach and other loo cleaner. You can create chlorine gas which is dangerous stuff. You will need to flush copiously if alternating products.

Yes DH is being pathetic.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far!
To be honest I'm as confused as you about why it's so tough- but concrete really is the word that comes to mind. Have never seen anything like it, and really don't want to get too close to find out more.
Have shown this thread to DH, he says it's my ensuite so I should clean it?? (He retiled it for me over summer). Worried it might be a me job yet again 😷

Your en-suite? He re- tiled it for you?
Do you have separate bedrooms?

Howdidtheydothat · 27/12/2023 23:28

Add hot tap water to help dissolve/breakdown. Flush and repeat.

I’m gonna use that, poo phobia my arse

My XH told me at 5 months pregnancy that he wouldn't be able to deal with nappies.

I gave it to him with both barrels and he learned the hard way.

Poo allergy, my arse.

littlejo67 · 28/12/2023 00:08

Just use some washing up liquid and hot tap water..it will break down the fat..

Siha345 · 28/12/2023 00:12

I assume it’s above the waterline and must have been there for some days to set hard. Unfortunately I think this might be a stick or least favourite kitchen spatula/plastic spoon job. Something you can double bag and shove in the wheelie bin. I once had to use a wire coat hanger at an ex boyfriend’s house but wouldn’t recommend as it poked holes in the plastic bags 😩. In fact, wouldn’t recommend you yourself do any of it, DH’s parents, 50% DH’s toilet, 100% DH’s problem

Teenagehorrorbag · 28/12/2023 00:27

Sorry but loo brushes are not meant for this, what a gross suggestion! If you squidge it all up into a loo brush you will then have to throw it out and buy a new one. (Hence why I don't have one in my guest ensuite).

Loo brushes are for cleaning limescale stains, skidmarks and general smears from around the bowl. Anything more pooey needs a different approach.

I had never come across this problem until I had children. One or both sometimes does poos that either float and won't go down, or concrete block ones that sit on the bottom and refuse to move. Either scenario requires a poo knife (I read about that on here years ago, and now keep one with the bathroom cleaners. Gross, but necessary).

You or DH will have to cut it up into smaller and smaller chunks until it can be flushed. DD found switching from full fat to semi skimmed milk helped with hers, but not 100%. I have been on a very steep learning curve for 15 years and can now share my knowledge on here.....😁

But it's a tricky one if guests have this tendency. Most hosts won't think to provide a knife, and who would ask? Perhaps people with such tendencies should carry a little fold up pocket knife...😂?

We do have a toilet brush in that ensuite- it's a flat one like this Addis Premium Toilet Brush & Storage Station Set with deep clean flexible Silicone Toilet Brush with non Slip Long Handle and Anti clog Bristles Quick Drying Holder Set for Bathroom Toilet, White Grey : Amazon.co.uk: Home & Kitchen
Love it myself but know that some people have mixed feelings, maybe it's not sturdy enough?

Edit- any advice to help future houseguests keep the place clean also appreciated, can't go through this again

Edited

For future guests leave Duck Fresh Brush with Holder-Toilet Bowl Cleaner Starter Kit [1 Handle + 4 Refills]- with Duck Fresh Brush Refill (12 Flushable Cleaning Pads) amzn.eu/d/8YT7RdZ this in the bathroom

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 28/12/2023 09:18

Mr Muscle and Drain Buster both sell products to deal with this.

Needhelpsupport · 28/12/2023 09:29

I cannot understand why neither of the in-laws didn’t clean up beforehand . I would never expect someone to clear up after me . Absolutely disgusting TBH .

TheOccupier · 28/12/2023 10:53

Hilarious that you are asking for advice to stop this happening again while studiously ignoring the many posts pointing out that your DH is a selfish, lazy arsehole. Here's my advice: LTB and then you won't ever have to host his concrete-shitting parents again.

TalkToTheHand123 · 28/12/2023 11:08

Offer them laxatives the next time they visit.

DH and his parents are all wankers.

Horrific.

I would absolutely refuse!!

Santaisscouringindeedfornewjob · 28/12/2023 12:36

Text ils off dh's phone and say they left something behind and can they come sort it out..

Dotcheck · 28/12/2023 13:01

I’m really interested to know more about the poo phobia. I assume this means he can’t wipe his own ass?
As this has such far reaching implications, I would insist that he goes for intensive therapy.

decionsdecisions62 · 28/12/2023 13:05

Concrete? This is confusing!
