Dr bekkman carpet cleaner, but use a different brush.
Worked on mine, after the valet clean failed

Cover it with bicarbonate of soda. Used to do this if the kids spilt milk in the carpet. Absorbs all the odour, just hoover up.

Once scrubbed clean, I’d stick a neutradol ball in the car. It was the only thing that got rid of the smell when a 6pt milk split and soaked into our boot.

You can buy bicarbonate of soda spray, it worked a treat on getting rid of the alcohol smell in the car after a bottle of red wine spilled. Alternatively just use bicarb dissolved in some water

Sell the car before it gets warm again

This happened to us. 4pints and I literally cried over spilled milk. We booked the car in for a full valet and they charged £30 extra just for the boot. It was two days before we had to drive to a family wedding almost 250 miles away so no time to mess about.

A friend of mine had the same issue, and popped 3 lumps of coal in a tub in the rear footwell. Smell gone!

BungleandGeorge · 21/07/2023 19:01

I’d try pet stain and odour remover as it contains enzymes to dissolve biological material. Could use bio washing powder but the pet stuff is better as it doesn’t foam

Wnikat · 21/07/2023 19:02

Bicarb paste

Diluted miltons

Came here to say this!

My dad had a car that he spilled milk in when I was a child. The memory of it for years after is stuck in my nostrils. He had no sense of smell and wouldn't accept how awful it was.

ohtowinthelottery · 21/07/2023 19:06

Get rid of the car. It's the only way my DF could get rid of the sour milk smell after a pint of milk spilt in the footwell of his car. He cleaned it multiple times with various cleaning products and it still smelt of vomit.

lurchermummy · 21/07/2023 19:07

Pet stain and odour remover. The smell will go eventually but it will take a while and be horrible on hot days - I speak from experience

ArcticSkewer · 21/07/2023 19:19

I tried everything and in the end I went to a scrappies and bought a replacement carpet for the boot for a fiver

iknowimcoming · 21/07/2023 19:31

Thanks all, it's dd's car, and newish so getting rid not an option (although that was my first reaction too)! She had the boot valeted and it improved but is still not gone, I'm visiting her tomorrow and going armed to try to help sort it. I've got some rug doctor enzyme cleaner (as Google said you need enzymes to kill the bacteria otherwise it will keep multiplying) just wondered if there was anything else I should try - wish me luck Envy
