…what do you do with the bedding in between guests?

Do you wash immediately after a guest leaves and put it back on the bed? (Potentially gets dusty before next guest)

Do you leave the dirty bedding on and wash it just before the new guest? (Sweat etc gets soaked in, any unnoticed stains may set)

Or do you wash it immediately and put it away and leave the bed there until the next guest is it about to arrive? (Bed looks ugly, duvet and pillows etc can get dusty)

Take it off and wash it, pop it in the linen chest. Put the pillows at the head of the bed as normal and then spread a bedspread (oldfashioned but useful) over the bed until I need to put the linen back on the bed.

FisherThem · 06/07/2023 12:28

I'm lazy. Wash immediately, put back on bed. Shake to refresh before next guest. Rarely long between the bastards.

AllotmentTime · 06/07/2023 12:34

Made up ready for the next batch, and then bedspread over the top. It gets used as a dumping ground so does need the bedspread to make sure it's still nice and fresh for the next guests!

neverenoughchelseaboots · 06/07/2023 12:36

Wash within a week or two after they’ve left - when it’s a sunny day and I don’t have everyday stuff to wash etc.

Put it back on as soon as it’s dry.

I hate it when guests strip the bed. I’m not ready for it yet!

ZacharinaQuack · 06/07/2023 12:37

Either way, but put a bedspread over the top so it doesn't get dusty.

Wash immediately, put in linen chest; remake bed with old stuff and a bedcover, then a dog blanket, as it’s less of a guest room and more ddog2’s preferred bedroom 😳

Same here - seems to be as soon as someone leaves, another arrives!

Peridot1 · 06/07/2023 12:41

Strip and wash the bedding within a few days usually. Put it away in chest of drawers in that room. Put duvet flat in the bed with the pillows and cover it all with a quilt or bedspread till it’s all needed again.

SilkTrees · 06/07/2023 12:49

We tend to wash the bedlinen immediately, but I don't think we have a position on exactly when the bed gets made again. We have people to stay reasonably frequently, or someone will come to dinner and stay unplanned, so there's often not much of a gap, anyway. But we're not like the posters on here who leave goody baskets of toiletries, fresh flowers, and little tea and coffee stations with carefully-curated biscuits and fresh milk, in guest rooms. Here you get a comfortable bed, towels, two windows that open, a decent reading light, enough plug sockets, a bathroom across the landing, free range to help yourself to anything/make yourself coffee etc in the kitchen, and the run of our bookshelves.

Remove, wash and replace straight away. The bedding getting dusty on the bed between guests has never been something I've even considered.

chunkychunks · 06/07/2023 12:54

I leave it on and then change it day before the next guest Blush

Same!

FloofCloud · 06/07/2023 12:58

Leave it as it's ally the same people, if it's someone else I'd then change and fresh linen. We also have a den with a single bed and that's usually left on S DH will often snooze there after work (also his office lol 😆)

Bedding gets dusty between guests… Wtaf? 🤣🤣

AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds · 06/07/2023 13:02

It’s usually ages between guests, and sometimes DH will go in there if our neighbours have a party as it’s quieter . And the cats quite like it too…

so I wash immediately and re make. Then wash again before next guests .

if you’re unexpected guests you get what’s there 😁

FlounderingFruitcake · 06/07/2023 13:04

Wash it maybe not immediately but within a few days of the guest leaving, remake the bed and chuck a bedspread over as a sort of dust sheet. The last bit probably isn’t necessary as since we we built the loft conversion and have a spare room in london we have guests all the bloody time.

Same-but more because sometimes DH or I sleep in there so want to have it ready

Ibizafun · 06/07/2023 13:07

My cat likes to sleep on the bed so don't even bother washing till before next guest comes.

ThePurpleOctopus · 06/07/2023 13:08

I'm always worried I'll forget to do it, so I also wash immediately.

And we also have a pretty bedspread on top, so the actual bedding wouldn't get dusty (I'd never thought of that!). The bedspread is for 1) prettiness, and 2) stop cat fur getting on the actual bedding.

stealthninjamum · 06/07/2023 13:08

Op I think you’re overthinking it, when i had a guest bed, I’d wash the bedding when they left and put another set on so that we were guest ready. I have never heard of bedding going dusty.

Exactly the same here.

ilovemydogmore · 06/07/2023 13:10

I leave it so it always looks nice and then just wash in the days before a new guest is expected. We have a spare set too in case of spontaneous plans. Nobody ever stays long enough for it to be gross and in genuine need of a change.

ilovemydogmore · 06/07/2023 13:10

It's nicer to have freshly washed sheets! Even if just for the lovely smell
