How many sets of bedding do you have for each bed?

Just curious after reading on another topic that one poster said they didn’t have extras. Growing up we always had two or three per family member. Same now plus more sheets and pillow cases as their sets have worn out at different rates. Plus we have extras bought and ready as some sets are thinning. Boring topic really but curious as we have loads of towels too and my airing cupboard is very full when nothing is waiting to be washed.

One or two sets each bed depending on whose bed it is. We’ve never needed more than that.

Pkhsvd · 06/07/2023 10:04

We have about 3 per bed but that’s built up over time. When I first moved into my own home I only had one set as I found decent bedding to be expensive.
we probably also have about 2/3 towels per person as once they start thinning etc they get used as rags

Porridgeislife · 06/07/2023 10:07

We’ve also got 3 adults in the house and 8 towels in total but we hang our towels up on heated radiators (on a separate system so run all year around) and wash once a week. The spares are mostly for guests. My airing cupboard is pretty bare but we seem to own enough bedding & towels.

I rented an Air BnB recently which was someone’s primary home and they had sheet sets stuffed in literally every cupboard. I reckon there was about 20 sets in total. It was utterly bizarre for a 3 bed house.

2 sets of bedding for each bed but an extra set that can be used on either of the double beds.

CindersAgain · 06/07/2023 10:09

1 each when we had less money, now we have two. And an extra winter one for us.

Stressfordays · 06/07/2023 10:14

We have 2 main sets for each bed (wash and wear) that go with the room decor. Then I have a 3rd set for each bed that is old bedding in case of emergency (d&v bugs etc.). I also have a spare duvet and couple of spare pillows just in case. The extras have come in handy at times.

PuttingDownRoots · 06/07/2023 10:19

We have...
Three sets for ours (King/superking)
Two guest sets (double/king)
About 8 childrens sets (single/double).

A bit of overload butvits built up over the years. I've just recycled a few worn out sets.

LadyDanburysHat · 06/07/2023 10:20

We used to have loads, especially when the DC were young. But now it is 2 sets per bed.

AfingeroffudgeisNOTenough · 06/07/2023 10:20

Too many! When we moved house about 8 years ago we discovered we had 21 sets of bedding - 18 single (for 4 single beds) and 3 sets of king size. I massively reduced them, but I fear they may be increasing in number again.

We now have 3 singles and I think 11 sets of single bedding (off the top of my head), 1 double with 3 sets and 1 king with 3 sets.

and I’ve just remembered that I’ve bought the DTs new bedding for their birthday coming up.

What can I say? I like buying bedding Blush

(In my defence we have got through at least 3 sets per bed in a night before when a sickness bug took over all 3 of our girls. They are now all much older and definitely capable of getting to the bathroom!)

Winnerturkeydinner · 06/07/2023 10:21

Just me and 2 x ds. We all have double beds. I have 6 sets of white cotton (hotel type) bedding. All washed and changed every Friday.

ShadowPuppets · 06/07/2023 10:28

Two sets for DD. One official guest set (colours don't go with our room). Then three sets for our double bed - but one of those is an 'emergency' set with a few marks on that only gets used if there's been a laundry fail!

orangeflags · 06/07/2023 10:28

One on one off in principle. But probably loads in the back of the airing cupboard

ShadowPuppets · 06/07/2023 10:29

Oh, and the baby is still in sleeping bags but he has 4 sleeping bags of various thickness and four base sheets - can't have enough bedding where tiny ones are concerned...

AfingeroffudgeisNOTenough · 06/07/2023 10:37

Oh I actually forgot about the double bedding for the spare bed - that’s another 2 sets. Blush

Let’s not talk about towels…

Maddy70 · 06/07/2023 10:38

2 per bed

BIWI · 06/07/2023 10:41

Another one here who loves bedding! (Actually this has triggered me into realising that I don't have enough for the 2 king-sized duvets that we have - we sort of rotate the 3 that we have across the two beds when things get washed).

As well as ordinary bedding (not that there's any such thing), I also have a full set of Christmas bedding - a set for every possible bed combination!

thenightsky · 06/07/2023 10:45

I had a big sort out of the airing cupboard only the other day so I know exactly what I've got now. 2 duvet covers with matching pillow cases for each bed. Then 3 bottom sheets for each bed, plus about 30 plain white pillow cases.

I've started replacing thin/torn bottom sheets with 1,000 thread count ones from Brand Alley. I even found a 1,200 thread count one that should last pretty much forever!

thenightsky · 06/07/2023 10:46

I've also removed all the thin and slightly ripped at the edges towels from my pile and given them to the local dog rescue shelter.

Koalaslippers · 06/07/2023 10:52

4 for our bed.
3 between 2 guest beds.
DC1 has 2.
DC2 has 3.

FlounderingFruitcake · 06/07/2023 10:59

2 for the 6YO (double)
1 for the spare room (double)
2 for the toddler (single)
1 for the spare trundle (single)
So we can interchange a bit there in an emergency!

Only 1 for our bed as we have a california king from when we lived in the states and can’t find anywhere to buy bedding here.

  • If anyone had any tips please share!!
Alba82 · 06/07/2023 11:07

We have 3 King sets for our bed (duvet, 6 pillowcases, fitted sheet)
3 double sets for ds bed (duvet, 4 pillowcases, fitted sheet)
4 single sets for dd as she has bunk beds (duvet, 2 pillowcases, fitted sheet)

plus a couple of king flat sheets for summer & a few fleece throws for winter.

Our towels are stored separately but at one point we had more than 20 bed sets🤦...declutter was much needed 😂

HappiDaze · 06/07/2023 11:51

A few sets for each bed although older teen DS occasionally gets his old Toy Story Bedding, but he doesn't seem to care. It's a lovely cotton so I'll keeping using it till he objects. He gets so sweaty in the heat so I'm changing bedding so often I can't keep up at times

RuthW · 06/07/2023 12:17

Three for each. Two normal and one Christmas.

hettiethehare · 06/07/2023 12:18

Three for ours, two for each of the DC. This was from before we got a tumble drier though, so now only really need two per bed.

MidnightMeltdown · 06/07/2023 12:40

About 5 or 6 Blush

However, some are seasonal sets (for example, I only use the brushed cotton and the heavy high thread counts in winter).

Also have moved a few times over the years and have bought new bedding to go with new decor
