Tell me about washing machines and steaming option and spin

This new fangled steaming option that seems to be a thing now. Does anyone have it? Is it worth the extra money?

I currently have a 1600 spin, lots seem to be 1400, is there much difference?

I have a Hotpoint with about 12 programs, most of which I don't use and it's an A+ energy but I think they've change those gradings now.

What else do i need to know?

My old hotpoint was 1600 spin, the new 14000 spin is rubbish in comparison. Sometimes I open the door and if the things have flung themselves around in a clump, instead of nicely balanced in the drum, it hasn’t spun at all and it’s all full of water.
I noticed the steam thing button today (had it since Dec) no clue what that does but bound to shrink something.
I preferred my old hotpot to the new one.

Steam good for sterilising clothes, mainly cotton if allergies , drip dry, lead to believe, steam refresh just refreshes without detergent.
I have a crappy hies en ce machine, hate it and wish it would die, 4yrs old, prob live too long😟

I suspected 1400 is too low a spin tbh.

I didn't realise the steam thing was being sold as an anti allergy thing, I thought it was easy -iron

I use the steam on my smelly gymwear and it kills the smell totally which washing alone doesn't. It makes ironing harder which seems a bit counter intuitive.

I went from a 1600 machine to a 1400 and I can’t wait for it to die so I can have a 1600 again. Big difference.

The gym clothes thing is interesting - I had a steam one, and never really found a good use for it - but I've got teen boys now, so de-stinkifying would be useful...

1400 is OK, but I'd love mine to die so I can upgrade to 1600 (it's a washer dryer too, and 8 years old, needs a thump to let me select a program, but just keeps on keeping on!)

I'm liking the idea of steam for de-stinking, does that really work?
