Urgh. Our shower grouting has this recurrent pink mould which is a devil to get rid of. Can anyone recommend a good cleaner for this? We're in a hard water area. Thanks!

Elbow grease, it's in a yellow bottle and I get mine from poundstretcher but I think they sell it on Amazon, it's amazing!

Astonish, mould and mildew , soak a couple of cotton wool pads in it and leave on affected area for a couple of hours then rinse away

There are about 12 different elbow grease products on Amazon, which one? Thanks

I use bicarb mixed with white vinegar.

Pennymixture · 28/03/2023 11:23

Dettol mould and mildew remover.

Spray it everywhere that needs it, leave for 20 minutes or so with bathroom windows wide open. Come back and rinse it away. I've never had to scrub, it's amazing stuff. Deals with black mould too.

HG Mould Remover spray - hands down the best anti mould cleaner ever, and I’ve tried them all

JennyTheDonkey · 28/03/2023 11:25

I find this stuff keeps it away for longer than the dettol one

It's pink body fat. Anything that deals with grease should do it.

Pennymixture · 28/03/2023 11:33

Thanks for tip on HG spray. Will try this when the dettol runs out

justsoembarrassing · 28/03/2023 11:54

I just poured lots of bleach on mine and left it overnight before rinsing it off.

It was spotless afterwards!

Whether bleach is good for grout or not I don't know, but it has never appeared to cause a problem!

Bearpawk · 28/03/2023 12:12

I use hg or neat bleach with an old electric toothbrush

Your right it is a bacteria

gamerchick · 28/03/2023 13:25

🙄 my point still stands

Boxing gym showers are the worst for the stuff.

Viviennemary · 28/03/2023 13:27

Isit not just the plaster seeping through rather than mould. Don't think mould is usually pink. Horrible black or greeny colour.

UnwillingDomestic · 28/03/2023 13:34

In my experience, when pink it usually just wipes off on a wipe/cloth. If you leave it, it turns black and then can become a real problem. Magic mould remover or bleach can then work sometimes.
Best not to leave it, keep shower as dry as possible (so squeegee after use), keep ventilated.
I wish I always practised what I preach!

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 28/03/2023 13:45

Bicarbonate of soda and bleach here. Works a treat.

Paperexcelandpens · 28/03/2023 13:49

I've never seen pink mould.

rbe78 · 28/03/2023 14:57

It's a type of bacteria that grows on the soap scum that accumulates on tiles/grout.

Once you've got rid of it (my preference is good old bleach), using a daily shower spray helps slow down its return.

piedbeauty · 29/03/2023 09:18

Fab, thanks for all the recommendations! I used bleach and a toothbrush and have managed to get most of it off, but there are still some stubborn marks. Bleurgh.

Have bought the Elbow Grease spray and the HG mould one. will report back!

If you're using the HG spray then open the windows as there's a strong smell of bleach. Leave it on for at least an hour, overnight if you can - and hey presto!
