To think it's not unusual to own more than one vacuum?

Or am I mad?

I have a Henry which I bought about 8 years ago, love him and he's never gone wrong but it's never just a quick clean up with it. Mainly just use him for the car and cleaning up after diy projects now or when I'm spring cleaning and want to get in every gap. I have since got a dog and Henry not good on pet hair.

about 4 years ago I bought a cordless dyson v7 which is still going okay with several new parts but I love it for quick clean ups, okay with pet hair

last year I bought a shark, I have owned a shark previously and didn't last long but decided on a new one. I bought it because my daughter suffers from allergies and it's great for getting every last bit of dust up.

henry is in the cupboard, dyson on the wall and shark gets left out so doesn't take up too much room.

also have a crappy handheld for the car which I wish I never bought and it's pants.

Dp thinks I'm mad. Mil thinks I'm mad! Everyone thinks I am mad.

I have owned other brands in the past that broke after a year - hoover, vax etc!

but they all have their own purpose in a busy family home with a dog and kids!

We have 3 in the house , I think that’s fairly normal .

We have a Shark for the upstairs floors (3 storey), a Eufy that runs overnight downstairs, and a Dyson cordless to whizz round the kitchen/ living room throughout the day (we have dogs).

Also got a Bissel carpet shampoo machine (see previous comment about dogs).

I actually forgot to machine I have a carpet cleaner too 😅 thankfully I have a tall and wide cupboard upstairs to store things like this in!

We have an efuy which trundles around most days. A vax which l use occasionally mainly to vacuum sofa backs and chairs. Also a steam mop for kitchen and bathroom. Somewhere there is a handheld one that we bought for the car but l can't remember where it is. So no you not unusual.

Slanty · 19/11/2022 13:53

I have four

TrentCrimm · 19/11/2022 13:55

Oh yes, we have a steam mop too!

If someone would invent a robovac for stairs, my life would be complete. I don't care how sad that makes me sound.

shopsalot · 19/11/2022 13:55

So pleased I've found this thread - currently considering buying another vacuum cleaner and DH thinks I'm mad.

I have a cordless Dyson for downstairs - for quick cleaning usually on daily basis as have hairy dog. Upstairs I have an old Miele (at least 15yo) which I want to replace - either with a Shark or another Miele.

DS has a dust allergy which I want to minimise - any recommendations? Which Shark do you have @Userno36367363 ? @WHEREEL I hadn't considered the Henry but will add to shortlist - what made you choose it?

FourChimneys · 19/11/2022 13:56

We have three Henrys in different colours.

cobblers123 · 19/11/2022 13:58

Sebo downstairs for heavy duty hoovering, two cheapest upstairs, Morphy Richards and Purple Genie (bought years ago from Asa, is very very noisy but cleans quite well).

Both are bagless, don't like either so am trying to brace myself to fork out for a Sebo upstairs. I love the Sebo. 😃

Burgerqueenbee · 19/11/2022 14:00

We have 2 vacuums, one Henry, and one cordless Dyson. We had the Henry long before the Dyson and keep it for bigger jobs/the car, and the Dyson is used to have a quick whip round daily.

RandomUsernameHere · 19/11/2022 14:01

Totally normal! I have 3, corded, cordless and robot. All are Dyson.

Gingerkittykat · 19/11/2022 14:02

I've got an old Henry which hasn't been used for a long time, a cordless Shark which I use for quick spot cleans, and a cordless vac which I use most often.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 19/11/2022 14:02

I’m with you op. I have a shark in the caravan, a cordless dyson on the boat and an upright dyson in the house (from the boat, too big and heavy for me now) plus a cordless Argos handheld.

now if you want to talk brooms - I think I have 5 plus at least as many dustpans dotted around.

Changingmynameyetagain · 19/11/2022 14:03

We have a robot vacuum called Margaret, she sets off every morning at 10am for a couple of hours and cleans the entire downstairs.
We have a Dyson upstairs that I don’t like but can’t justify replacing and a shark handheld that I use to clean smaller jobs. I use the handheld every day, it’s really handy for crumbs and quick clean ups.

hedgehoglurker · 19/11/2022 14:03

I have 5. 2 floors with a robot on each floor, a cordless on each floor, and a corded. It's an old extended house with a few additional steps up or down, so the robots tend to run around in the original part where it is level and the cordless are used in the extension odd levels. With 3 dogs they get plenty of use!

Gingerkittykat · 19/11/2022 14:03

As well as the three I mentioned I was going to buy a George a few days ago (I think that is the one that also shampoos carpets) after a nasty car food spill on the carpet.

CaptainCreepsBourgeMobile · 19/11/2022 14:04

Consumerism gone mad.

h78 · 19/11/2022 14:13

I've got three, one on each floor. Older dyson in the basement, shark cordless on the ground floor and shark liftaway upstairs. I hate dragging vacuums up and down stairs.

PortiasBiscuit · 19/11/2022 14:15

My whole life is not a vacuum.

Dougieowner · 19/11/2022 14:21

Not unusual at all

We have a large Animal (mains) Dyson for downstairs, a Smallball (mains) Dyson for upstairs and a wet/ dry one for DIY use.

Treaclemine · 19/11/2022 14:24

Three floor town house. Gtech Air-ram on the top - also does top stairs. Shark Pet Duo on main floor. I hate it. Everytime I use it I have to spend 20 mins cleaning the brushes and sometimes the tubing as stuff jams in theturn at the bottom of the handle. Also does lower stairs. And things needing tools which the Gtech does not have.
Russell Hobbs stick with removeable handheld on ground floor. A mistake as the floor bit doesn't suck well. Handheld bit OK.
Also recent addition from John Lewis, much more powerful stick and floor part. All cordless.
There's nowhere sensible to store any of them, and I prefer not having to lug things up and down. I had a so-called lightweight Panasonic which was awful to deal with three floors, hence the distribution on all floors.
Steam mop in the kitchen. Also Rug Doctor Spot cleaner of no fixed abode, currently on top landing after sucking up the rain which forced its way through the skylight. Had to buy that when I had an elderly resident with many spillages, and one awful incident involving a chocolate dessert which went straight through on to the stairs. Her son's birthday, we got in with the fish and chips to this massive clean up, getting the nurses in to clean her, and completely destroying my Vax. Wonderful machine and would recommend to anyone with mess generating occupants.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 19/11/2022 14:25

I used to have just one, then DDog arrived and she moults.
The Shark is too heavy for me so DH occasionally uses it. I have a lightweight Amazon cylinder that’s a pleasure to use and a rechargeable Gtech upstairs plus a hand held vacuum for the car.
Overkill? Probably, but anything for an easier life.

Shmithecat2 · 19/11/2022 14:26

I've got 2 - a Dyson V11 and a Miele C3. I use the Dyson daily, but I like the security of having a corded for big vacuuming events.

TastesLikeFlavourlessFizz · 19/11/2022 14:26

Upright, handheld and robot here. Use them all!

Not quite the same as 2 of the same kind mind…But I’d probably do that if I lived in a house rather than a flat.

TastesLikeFlavourlessFizz · 19/11/2022 14:27

for big vacuuming events

😂 This tickled me!

Runningintolife · 19/11/2022 14:28

You need a robot vac now to really get them tutting OP...

We have a Shark, a Vax cordless and a Eufy robot vac and mop.
