Mr Muscle oven cleaner and residual smell

I cleaned my oven last week using Mr Muscle. Rinsed off the solution and made sure (or so I thought) the last traces had been removed. The oven was very clean.

I used the oven yesterday to make a cottage pie and the smell emanating from it was so bad that we had to open all the windows in the kitchen. The smell was obviously coming from residual traces of the cleaner.

I'm going to give the oven a good clean tomorrow with washing up liquid and water but was wondering if anybody had had this problem after using Mr Muscle.

I wish had I stuck to using Dr Beckton's oven clearner because at least it does not smell.

TIA

Oh no.

I'll try rinsing with concentrated bicarbonate solution.

I'll never touch that stuff again.

I've stopped using Mr Muscle for the same reason - however much you think you've rinsed the surfaces, that smell still appears. And the chemicals can't be good.
