Bike tyre marks of wood floor

DH had left his bike on the wood floor on our front room while some work was being done on the shed and now there are tyre marks on the wood floor which just don't shift. I went at them with a steam mop for about half an hour and they aren't budging. Any ideas?

Not an expert here but doesnt rubber remove rubber? Something to do with the friction? I would have a go at trying to rub them off with a pencil eraser.

Oil? Are they rubber do you think? You might have melted them into the wood now!

I will try rubber, I am not sure if it is rubber or oil!
