Best way to remove black mould from bathroom sealant?

Just that really! Typical new build house, extractor fan not working until recently but now does come on. What's the best way to remove the already developed black mould on the bath/tile connecting sealant. It's a shower over bath. Thank you!

I'd remove and replace the sealant.

Itisbetter · 05/11/2022 19:31

I bought a toothpaste tube of stuff but I haven’t tried it yet

Hg Mould Spray

pinkysmum · 05/11/2022 19:33

Cillit bang black mould remover works wonders. Try that it is amazing.

Suboptimalsitch · 05/11/2022 19:34

How bad is it? If it’s grim then I’d reseal it but if it’s mild/moderate you could try leaving cotton wool soaked in bleach pressed against it overnight. I’ve had a lot of success with that over the years. I’ve just moved into a new build and am taking a preventative approach by wiping it with a micro fibre cloth after using the bath and shower.

filka · 05/11/2022 19:34

You probably have to cut out the sealant and put new.

Hoppinggreen · 05/11/2022 19:36

I don’t think you can.
You can kill the mould but it stains sometimes and you can’t get rid of the stain

JudithHarper · 05/11/2022 19:39

Kitchen roll soaked in bleach.

bloodyeverlastinghell · 05/11/2022 19:40

Mould and mildew spray. If the mould is behind the sealant you have to remove and replace.

Hg Mould Spray

Yup, this is the best stuff you can get.
Spray on leave for a few minutes and rinse off.
Any really tough bits that survive, repeat the process and maybe use a nail brush.

anxiousatnight · 05/11/2022 19:43

If it's on top of sealant, use this. It's fantastic.

If it's trapped behind the sealant it won't work and you'll have to scrape it out.

Nitgel · 05/11/2022 19:43

Def try hg mould spray first it's really good

anxiousatnight · 05/11/2022 19:44

Sorry - the pic would help

@aanxiousatnight I've used this and it really does work!

Flopsy145 · 05/11/2022 20:13

Thanks all that's really helpful! I've attached some pictures, it's not covered but with the weather turning it's definitely increasing. My boyfriend is pretty good at sealing but hates doing it so trying to rectify what we have first 😂 do you think it's salvageable?!

Cillit bang mould spray is amazing

Blixem · 05/11/2022 20:17

The black cilit bang is brilliant. Just spray on, leave for a bit and wash off

summergone · 05/11/2022 20:18

I have soaked toilet roll in bleach rolled up pressed into it and left for 12 hours , was like new when I took it off , was very surprised and pleased 😀

Squirrelonwheels · 05/11/2022 20:21

I asked this exact question a few weeks back and the advice was HG mould spray & it worked!! Mine was at least as bad as yours and it took several applications and leaving it soaking (on kitchen paper) but it worked. So satisfying! Good luck.

Squirrelonwheels · 05/11/2022 20:22

In fact having looked at your photos again, mine was way worse - yours will probably only take one application.

Flopsy145 · 05/11/2022 20:38

@Squirrelonwheels thank you! Did you get the spray or foam spray?

Thanks all I'm also going to get the cillit bang stuff!

HG mould spray. The foam as it clings better. Leave it half an hour then rinse.

WhiskersPete · 05/11/2022 21:00

Although you will have no insides left if you stay in the same room as it so ventilate well.

JanglyBeads · 05/11/2022 21:21

The bleach-soaked loo roll is amazing! Yours is definitely salvageable OP.

pompomdaisy · 05/11/2022 21:32
