How much to spend on knives?

I need a get a new set of kitchen knives and totally bamboozled by the choice.

Not big on cooking, nothing fancy, just normal household cooking.

How much should I spend to get a nice set, that will last? And does anyone have any recommendations?

I like the Global ones, and for my last set set a price alert for the one I wanted on Amazon. I pretty much use the 19cm chef’s knife for 90% of everything.
