how to wash a large jumper 90% cotton ,10% alpaca

Bought a large slouchy jumper from charity shop .Expensive brand .
Googling says alpaca must be cold washed by hand .I could do this but I know it will be hard to dry as I won't be able to wring it .

The jumper has a kanagaroo pouch and is a little baggy in that area .

Any chance I could machine wash on gentle/wool cycle or something ? Or at least spin it in machine ?

Any advice gratefully accepted .

Does it have a care label?
I'd try a wool cycle with wool detergent

How much do you care if it goes wrong?
300pound jumper you’ll be devastated to ruin? Handwash it.
Paid 20pounds for it and you’re not sure about the kangaroo pocket anyway? Wool wash in the machine with suitable laundry detergent (it needs to say suitable for wool/wool and silk).

I've washed jumpers with 15% Alpaca on a wool wash at 30 degrees. They were fine 😎

dry it by rolling it up in a towel and squeezing out as much water as possible, then lay it flat over a clothes horse to dry.

The care label says cold handwash Sad.

I'm liking missingthe sea advice . Rolling in a towel was my thought but I think it might stretch it ?

My machine has a hand wash setting. Does yours?

peridito · 15/10/2022 13:51

No ,sadly .And of course googling suggests that a machine handwash is not equivalent ,for alpaca ,to an actual handwash .
Though of course my jumper is only 10% alpaca.
