Cleaning milk/vomit out of a velvet sofa

My baby projectile vomited all over our navy blue sofa last night. It’s on a removable cushion cover.

can I put the cushion cover in the washing machine?

what can I do about the milk that soaked through to the actual cushion?

There should be a washing label inside the cover, it will say whether you can wash it and at what temp. You could try very gently washing the area in cold water by hand. Try not to rub the pile too much and to not crush it and cause creases. That would be the best bet as putting in the machine will probably crease the fabric. You can then drip dry and press from the rear of the fabric.

For the cushion I'd sponge as much as possible trying not to get it soaked through as it will take ages to dry. Use an anti-bacterial type cleaner to stop it smelling.
