Hi all,
We have the gas (and electric) meter in what is now a downstairs office, it was once a garage. The meter has never been moved and we are now being told it has to be moved. The last visit from anyone was 2 years ago for a smart meter.
The letter from SGN is titled 'built over service pipe' identified as a possible safety risk following a recent H&S assessment.
They are saying it's a safety risk etc.
The garage conversation was signed off by the council about 7 years ago and we purchased the house 15 years ago with the meters already in the garage.
My concern is moving them, if they go to the front of the house it will mean going through/under a porch and front door to the front wall, if they go back to the garden, it will mean going through/under a back door and that I'm guessing will be too near a living room window.
We are petrified of the cost and disruption, carpet and floors pulled up, tiles in porch pulled up, driveway pulled up, etc.
Is there anything we can do to fight to keep the meter where its is? and does anyone have any experience of this at all?
Thank you so much for reading.
