How to get food colouring off white trousers

A child who had just eaten birthday cake, which had runny bright red goo allover it brushed passed my white tousers.

Its all up the right red leg. Its awful stuff as it even dyed my fingers and nails bright red as I was trying to get bits off.

Any suggestions?

i got green food colouting down my beige trousers nearly 3 years ago now... i just use them as old trousers and have worn and washed them regualry for the past 3 years

the stain is still there but a tiny bit fainter
