Where is the best place to buy a carpet these days?

Not bought a carpet for a good few years. Which shops are good for service these days? Would really like someone to come round with some samples as I always find it hard to choose colour etc. if in a shop. Need to see what it's like against sofas etc. Want something good quality but not extortionate-will be a child-free room. Well that's the plan!

Carpet Right let you borrow samples overnight - I think they ask for a £20 deposit though. They have a huge range from cheap and cheerful to luxury. We bought a carpet from them last year and they were professional and helpful from start to finish - including the fitters!
