Mopping floors - least hassle

What is the easiest, hassle free way to mop the floors, I've got laminate and tiles. At the moment I've got an old fashioned bucket and mop but I find it a faff filling it up, then I just seem to be swishing dirty water around. Can anyone recommend a good mop or a really easy way of cleaning floors?

This thread is a little old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for mop recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best floor mops page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

We use mop and bucket once a week but a squirt bottle in between.

@clarrylove I had heard this, and it did damage the cheap laminate I had in my old place. The new place has more sturdy laminate though
What should you use instead of mopping?

@Rowgtfc72

Dh has just laid new tiles in the kitchen,, porcelain, but very rough. They're killing my conventional mophead. Can't imagine they'd be any kinder to sponge either. Any ideas?
Sounds like tiles we got in the kitchen. I have Karcher steam cleaner that has mop head. We have cleaners from a cleaning company coming once a week. Some of them do not speak or understand English. I guess offering them to use a steam cleaner might cause safety issues. Our house is quite small. Only kitchen and bathroom are tiled. I am tempted to try Flash Speedmop. It is only £10 in Sainsbury's at the moment.

Having tried many types of mop, and become frustrated with the weight, storage and cumbersome manoeuvrability, I also now use Flash Speedmop. It's so lightweight and quick. However, I don't use their wipes.
I just cut up some old towels to the correct size cloths and attach one as needed, spraying either the cloth or the floor as I go with a homemade spray solution. Afterwards I wash and reuse the cloths.

@clarrylove

You shouldn't mop laminate. It will cause water damage.

I've mopped my laminate floor for 10+ years, no damage done at all. I don't think a steam mop should be used on laminate though.

The best mop I have ever had it has changed my life. No bucket required and the floor is dry after mopping.
I use it on my tiled kitchen and bathroom floor as well as my wood floors but with the appropriate cleaner for wood. I like the method one the best.
