I currently have a Miele cat and dog that is ten years old and whilst still working is not as good as it once was Sad

I also have a Dyson v6 cordless that I use between hoovers and the battery needs replacing which will cost £65

I am contemplating buying a new hoover to replace both but there are so many to choose from. I may decide just to replace the battery depending on what people's suggestions are!

I need something that is good with hoovering up long hair and pet hair and can manage a large house

I have to be honest that I like the idea of an upright as I am not keen on the thing dragging along behind me!

Any ideas?

@RavingAnnie

I replaced my Dyson v6 battery with a compatible battery off Amazon 2 years ago and it's been fab. Think it cost £25/30. Lasted for ages and longer run time.

Given my Dyson a new lease of life.

^^ This.

We've got 2 Shark cleaners and they are leagues ahead of any other vaccum we've owned. You can clean the filters easily, and it's incredibly efficient in terms of getting pet hair up (2 dogs in the house). Previously we've had Dyson, Miele, AEG and a Henry.

My beloved Miele died. The guy who came round to try to fix it told me that, sadly, it would be cheaper to get a new one and that he swears by Sebo. I have one of those now and am very happy with it. He said it's cheaper and easier to repair (which I'd always rather do than buy a new machine).

The Miele was about 7 years old.

Miele Cat & Dog. Had one and it died (after 15 years constant use), replaced with a useless Shark which I gave to DM to use in her spic and span small flat (she managed to block it up). Back to Miele!

The new cordless dysons are great and very powerful. V15 onwards.

I love our cordless Dyson. I think it’s a v8. Had it for 4 or so years and would replace it like for like without hesitation if it ever gave up.

We also have a Henry as our lovely cleaner loves it. I don’t like it at all as it hurts my back - I find that I have to bend over loads more to use that than the stain, and I’m only 5 foot 1.

Our shark pet is so amazing. It practically sucks the floorboards up through the carpet.

Thanks for recommendations,
I am going to get a new battery from amazon @ much reduced cost compared to Dyson.

Then look around for a Miele 😊

Vax Pet (its about £90 in Argos). Such a good suction!

Dyson cordless - never again. Absolutely useless. Runs for about a minute before needing to be recharged and hardly has any suction.
I'm thinking of getting a Miele to replace as the reviews seem generally good.
