Oops. My first time ever doing a deep clean of the washing machine too. I chucked some powder in and added some white vinegar in the dispenser to run on a hot cycle. Have I ruined it?

Does baking powder not contain bicarb?
I'm sure it'll be fine

BruceAndNosh · 23/12/2021 16:28

Chuck some egg whites in too and you'll have a giant Pavlova

You might find your machine swells in size! Grin

Gladioli23 · 23/12/2021 16:34

Baking powder is just bicarbonate of soda with a solid acid so if you were planning to add vinegar to the bicard you'd get the same result. I'd imagine it might be rather foamy though!

No it won't ruin yoir machine

Baking powder is bicarbonate of soda 😁😁

OK, phew! Just reading about it and everyone saying baking powder is NOT to be used for cleaning. I was going to run a hot wash without anything to rinse it after. Should I do that or do another wash with just vinegar?

Baking powder contains bicarbonate of soda and an acid (e.g. cream of tartar). Bicarbonate of soda is a different product.

OP, It will not harm your machine. Soda crystals are good for degreasing the machine too

Thank you! Will invest in some soda crystals!
