I swear by aldi and lidl bathroom cleaner. . But it’s brilliant. When lockdown happened and you couldnt get cleaning stuff, I just used what I could get. I was shocked how shit big brand stuff was.
It’s still hit and miss in some shops. But bloody brilliant when you can get it.

Good old spray window cleaner with vinegar is good too.

Isthisthereaklife · 11/12/2021 09:37

Yeah I guess a lot of it is elbow grease right ??

Doesn’t matter what product I used the hard water marks wouldn’t come off. UNTIL I used the scrub daddy sponge! I use it with viakal spray. (stinks but best cleaner I’ve used so far)
Since then when in a rush post shower, I’ve used the sponge with just a squirt of shampoo and it still cleans it nicely

Comedycook · 11/12/2021 12:27

Lidl limescale remover

mommybear1 · 11/12/2021 14:12

The Bain of my life (other than oven cleaning 😂). The best thing to do is squeji the glass after a shower and spray Vikal if you have the time (and inclination) give it ten minutes then wash it if and dry buff to remove all water spots. Otherwise just shower it off the next morning and when you squeeji it off it will look fine. Do you have gloss or Matt tiles? Matt are more forgiving I like Method bathroom spray - spray it on then use a brush (I have the OXO extendable tub one) and give them a good scrub and shower off. Gloss tiles are harder work I do as above but have to follow up with glass cleaner and buff the tiles or just a dry cloth afterwards. It works up quite the sweat 😁

mommybear1 · 11/12/2021 14:13

*squeegee not sure what my autocorrect was going there!

Nope. Just a wipe over with a microfibre cloth
MrsGatsby99 · 12/12/2021 07:42

Viakal once a month, rinse off and squeegee.
Maintain with daily shower spray and squeegee.
1 or 2 per week, scrub with dishmatic filled with 1 tsp washing up liquid, 2 tsp citric acid and water after finishing my shower. Make sure to rinse residue away, squeegee. If you want perfection, buff with microfibre after but i don't do this (except now and again if we have guests!) Smile

IsolaPribby · 12/12/2021 07:44

I rinse and squeedgee after every shower, which prevents the limescale build up in the first place.

Laila747 · 12/12/2021 08:25

Viakal always on taps/shower.

White vinegar in a spray bottle add some fairy liquid and spray all over shower screen, leave for 15 mins then rinse. Perfect streak free shower screen every time!

Isthisthereaklife · 12/12/2021 13:43

Thanks all!

Gonna have to Google scrub daddy sponge !

I did buy some HG grout cleaner but am scared to use it (hate chemicals )

What is this viakal stuff ?

I use Method minty bathroom cleaner with a Vileda “magical” sponge (different fabrics on both sides, one standard microfibre and one smooth) but apparently they don’t sell the sponge any more Confused

The Method stuff is fab though, easily gets rid of all the water marks for a shiny finish and smells nice too Smile

(They also make shower cleaners but I haven’t tried those)

nodogz · 12/12/2021 14:18

I've got a dishmatic sponge thing. I fill it up with washing up liquid and scrub when I'm in the shower. Often my kid does too.

Best thing that has worked for me in a hard water area. Little and often.

userxx · 13/12/2021 15:49

Viakal always on taps/shower.

Is it ok for chrome ?

Oblomov21 · 13/12/2021 16:12

Takes notes. I do use Viakal.

FinallyFluid · 13/12/2021 16:19

Viakal once a month and rub vigorously with a yellow scrubby.

Method shower spray daily.

Keep the water softener topped up at all times with salt that really helps.

Hodl · 13/12/2021 16:47

Fairy liquid on a damp cloth all over one side at a time, then squeegee it off. I then use an old dry towel to polish the glass.

Method spray on the tiles (ours are matt) and then scrub the grout with an old toothbrush. Then rinse it all off.

NMC2022 · 13/12/2021 16:49

Agree with method shower spray daily, the passion fruit one isn't choking either!

HumbugWhale · 13/12/2021 16:56

White vinegar is the best thing for glass. Washing up liquid is the best thing to shift soap marks. No idea about limescale as I live in a v soft water area.

Inmypjsagain · 14/12/2021 10:53

Ecover limescale spray
Astonish window and glass
Squeegee after each shower

Finish with HG shower shield on your glass, it’s amazing for stopping a build up of limescale.

EvilPea · 14/12/2021 11:18

Honestly aldi bathroom cleaner, I no longer need any limescale descaler.
I don’t wipe it down after a shower, don’t use the shower spray stuff. Nothing. Just a couple of times a week a wipe over.

About every 6 months I scrub the grout between the tiles with white vinegar and a toothbrush, that’s more mould than limescale.
I live in a really really hard water area.

Prior to the aldi opening I used to use a window vac after every shower, clean it, then re-clean it with window cleaner and viacal once a month.
Aldi bathroom is an utter Game changer, which is probably why it’s hard to get.

MangoBiscuit · 14/12/2021 11:27

Fairy liquid and a dishmatic! Sounds daft, but it does work. Everytime I shower, while conditioning my hair, I scrub round the whole shower, glass shower doors, taps etc, then rinse it off, then finish my shower. I then squeegee the tiles and the doors before I get out.

I was fed up of having to do extra cleaning to deal with limescale, and whitening the grout, dealing with water marks etc. If I scrub it every other day while I'm there anywhere, nothing builds up, so I don't need to use anything else. Dishmatic thing just makes it quicker and easier, and fairy liquid because it's not bad on my skin, it works well, and i have it in anyway.

fluffiphlox · 14/12/2021 11:29

Microfibre cloth.

AdoraBell · 14/12/2021 14:12

Method cleaner here too, passion fruit one. I use Viakal if lime scale appears.
