Is there a product that will clean my oven without me having to scrub anything?

Because I’m lazy and would rather claw my own eyes out than ever scrub an oven rack ever again.

I don’t put anything special on them when I use the dishwasher, just a normal tablet and a hot wash rather than the eco one I normally use. There are always a few brown bits left but they flake off easily. It’s very satisfying.

Oven Mate - I've bought it from Lakeland but seen it elsewhere - is brilliant stuff and doesn't smell vile.

itwasntaparty · 10/12/2021 16:40

Pay someone. £80 here and best money ever spent. It looks newer than you once he's been.

Myshitisreal · 10/12/2021 16:43

I think there's a lakeland in Belfast, Boucher Road

Wafflehouse · 10/12/2021 16:44

Do Lakeland deliver? We don’t have that store here in NI.

There’s a Lakeland on Boucher Road in Belfast, it’s been there for years.

waltzingparrot · 10/12/2021 17:03

Lakeland oven cleaner is brilliant but it's still a dirty, messy job.

Melroses · 10/12/2021 17:05

I have just given my bi-carb pasted oven floor a wipe. It hasn't been cleaned for a very long time. I can see oven floor in parts. I am going to mark that down as a success!

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 10/12/2021 17:06

Thanks- I had no idea @Myshitisreal and @Wafflehouse. I haven’t been in Belfast in years. And won’t be going just for oven cleaner Grin

Sure. But I was just letting you know we do actually have one. I'm not allowed to go 😂

Also interested in magic oven cleaning with no work

For the shelves, dishwasher as above, but I pull the shelves out while it's still going (once it's hot), one at a time and scrub with a wire scourer to get the burnt bits off. I may be a slattern who doesn't clean the oven often enough. It just comes off, even if very encrusted.
Use a liner for the bottom once you have cleaned it this time, it can go through the dishwasher the same way as the shelves.
That leaves the door. A hob scraper (the sort with a Stanley blade in the end) first and then minimal elbow grease with a mild abrasive (I use either hob cleaner or bar keepers friend) will make short work of it.

What I need is a dishwashable oven floor sized tray 🤔 I used to use foil in the old oven, but this is a fan oven and it blows about.

jazzandh · 10/12/2021 17:33

Oven Mate - another one here that uses it.

Put the stuff on liberally (gel) then wipe off or stick it in the dishwasher.
No trays or bags. No bad smells. It is brilliant - I've used it for years.

Cyw2018 · 10/12/2021 17:38

Once you've cleaned it invest in some non stick oven liners (assuming you have a fan oven).

The door is the only bit I feel I haven’t conquered.
What’s everyone’s best door method?

Crispynoodle · 11/12/2021 09:56

You can get oven pride in supermarkets over here in NI I get it all of the time.......Blush

loopylindi · 11/12/2021 10:23

Oven Pride - first, last and always. I use a razor blade scraper to deal with the glass door.

Rangoon · 11/12/2021 11:12

I have oven racks which sort of extend out and have special grease on the sliding bits and the instructions are not to immerse them in water to wash off the special lubricant. They give me rage. I would never have bought them if I'd known. To make matters worse I have two of these ovens.

BigWoollyJumpers · 11/12/2021 11:31

I used soapy Brillo pads for the glass door - works pretty well.

I only clean my oven, say, once every six months Blush, so the build up is always pretty bad.

I detest oven cleaning, hence the lack of it, and it's probably extremely slovenly, but the top and sides are self clean, so only the bottom, the glass door and the racks need an occasional clean.

Bairnsmum05 · 11/12/2021 21:08

My door is fine but there are some crusty burnt on bits on the bottom, do I scrape with something? Would I remove some kind of protective lining?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 11/12/2021 21:32

BigWoollyJumpers, does the Brillo pad not scratch the glass?

Melroses · 11/12/2021 22:23

I use the stainless steel pads (Spong) rather than brillo pads these days. Much less destructive.

Flackattack · 11/12/2021 22:38

Oven pride is great but chemical string - burnt my arm on it.

Astonish oven clean will change your life - just rub it in and wipe it off’ it literally was astonishing!!!!

This one is fab. Paint it on,, go and do something else for 2 or 3 hours come back and wipe off.

You can also use a damp powder dishwasher tablet on your glass doors. Just keep rubbing, It takes a bit of elbow grease but does come up a treat. Finish off with a damp cloth and buff with a dry one.

RampantIvy · 11/12/2021 22:53

Oven Mate works on glass doors as well.
