Which robot hoover is the best?

I’m going to be looking out for decent Black Friday deals on robot hoovers. Recommendations please! Eufy? Roomba?

Which one do you have, and what are the pros and cons? Suction? Effectiveness with pet hair? Different surfaces? How thorough is it? How noisy is it? Does the charge last long enough? Does it always manage to return to its charger before conking out?

I’m not too fussed about fancy WiFi and linking to voice assistants, as I don’t use one.

Thanks is advance.

@Hotelhelp

Get on with it OP while they’re still on offer!
You're right of course! Have had a VERY busy week, but final decision and ordering WILL occur today. Can anyone advise how well their robot hoovers make the transition from hard floor to carpet when there is a small step involved? I'm a bit worried the height difference (which is 1.5cm) will be too much?

We should hold hands and do this together, OP. Grin I’m so nearly there on the Eufy X8 and then I think, ooh, the Roomba has rubber brushes. I have no idea why rubber brushes are better. Grin
I’m now also trying to buy a cordless hoover for the stairs/car and that’s a whole other world of uncertainty. Argh.

Yes! Let's take the plunge together..... and as I have just ordered the Eufy X8, I can make that decision for you! 😂 It is reduced from £449 to £329.

I rang them and asked re surface changes. They said it will cope with up to 17mm difference and I measure ours as 15mm. They also said I can return it if it can't cope.

Now I am thinking about cordless hoovers for stairs, aaaargh! I need a lie-down.

I have a neato, which I like for a few reasons:

the D shape supposedly allowed it to get nearer corners and edges (though I'm not sure how true this is in practice)

It maps the room and remembers it

it has no-go zones that you can set from the app that it will remember, so no magnetic strips

it picks up a lot of hair, and most importantly, as a very easy brush to get out and clean each time, whereas some hoovers take a lot more effort to get in and clean

I got the D650 pet version (no pets, just long thick hair). I think the pet version isn't really any different, just comes with extra replacement brushes. It was much cheaper on black friday or amazon day.

Holy heck! I just bought the X8, @BigSigh2021!

It seems that for cordless vacuums there are people who say Dyson are ace or shite, and that Shark are ace or shite. I rather liked the look of this Samsung as mentioned by a MNer on another thread. If only I could find the thread, I could ask her how she's getting on with it.

I know I want one that attaches to a wall, and I would prefer bagless.

Honest opinions … do you need two?

I bought two and I have to say it’s fantastic having the whole house, including under furniture, done every day while I work.

I come downstairs each evening to a lounge carpet that looks spiffy and has wheel marks all over it… oddly satisfying, like a striped lawn.

If either breaks, I’ll be replacing it. Personally, it’s made a noticeable difference to my mental health (it looks nice so it motivates me to keep on top of things more so the house is tidier which motivates me to keep on top of it more so the house… ad infinitum).

@ForlornLawn Yay, well done! Fingers crossed we've chosen the right one....

I think I'll hold off the cordless for a bit, as hopefully buying a coffee machine too.

@CHEM2020 I'm so glad to hear the positive enforcement loop you've found on motivation to clean and tidy. I hope that happens to me too 😊
