I need to restock my cleaning products as I want to give my house a thorough clean before Christmas. Would love to hear your lists of things you have in our cleaning cupboards which are useful and effective. Any specific brands that you find good would also be really helpful. Thank you in advance.

Vinegar, lemon juice and bicarb

Choccyp1g · 05/11/2021 16:54

Elbow grease, there's no substitute.

@Choccyp1g

Elbow grease, there's no substitute.
I came to say exactly this, sadly there is no magic bullet. Little and often.
TheWeeDonkey · 05/11/2021 16:55

Stardrops

astoundedgoat · 05/11/2021 16:58

Flash All Purpose.

Although if you want fancy, Kinn is gorgeous and they're an ethical, environmentally friendly, women-owned brand:

Pink stuff

GiantKitten · 05/11/2021 17:05

Method kitchen spray/multi surface cleaner (there’s 2 or 3 flavours I think)
IME it is the best for killing grease - dead easy, no froth, & wipes away instantly. And smells nice.
I’ve got old kitchen cupboards with fiddly moulding on the doors, and fussy old tiles; I spray the method on, scrub over with a soft washing-up brush, & wipe with either microfibre cloth or cellulose sponge, and everything comes up squeaky clean Smile
They do good anti-bacterial sprays too.

Harpic for the loo's. The one in the black bottle is so good!

FindingMeno · 05/11/2021 17:21

Method glass cleaner
Method or Mrs Meyers multi surface
E cloth for glass
Baby wipes for marks on carpet

PurpleHydrangea1 · 05/11/2021 17:24

I always have The Pink Stuff and soda crystals in for certain things.

NotMyCat · 05/11/2021 17:25

I like to have

Elbow grease spray
Flash wipe and done
A mould remover for the bathroom
Harpic black for the toilet
Method daily shower spray
Limescale remover (viakal)
Glass cleaner
Stainless steel cleaner (for hob/extractor fan/a table I have)
Dr beckmann carpet cleaner
Loads of old flannels which I use as cloths!

igivein · 05/11/2021 17:29

Stardrops - does everything

TwigTheWonderKid · 05/11/2021 17:47

Method All Purpose spray for everything and bleach for the toilets. Windows cleaned with vinegar furniture with a damp cloth. Absolutely no need for tonnes of different things and definitely no excuse for not using eco products.

Spiceup · 05/11/2021 17:48

After 30 years of keeping house and trying them all, the only cleaning products I buy are bleach, washing up liquid, CIFbathroom spray, CIF multipurpose liquid (both much better than Flash or own brand equivalents imo) , Bar Keepers friend and white vinegar.

MrsGatsby99 · 06/11/2021 05:47

Love Method general purpose cleaner and wood polish - smell lovely and do a good job. But as i am trying to save a bit of money at the moment, now using reusable spray bottles with a homemade mix of a drop of Aldi washing up liquid, a teaspoon of citric acid and water. Could add a few drops of essential oils too to make it smell nice. Use this in kitchen and bathrooms with microfibre. Working well.

Dishmatic for cleaning shower. Astonish Shower spray for screen.
Viakal once every so often for screen and taps.

Ckeaning Little and often is better if you don't want to use harsh chemicals/ spend ages scrubbing.

StarfishDish · 06/11/2021 06:45

HG mould spray for any mould you have on tiles. Our bathroom is tiny and we used to get so much black mould on the grout, it looked awful! We tried everything to no avail. Tried the HG mould spray and the grout looks like new!

Elbow Grease's mould spray also works as well Halloween Grin

FindingMeno · 06/11/2021 09:17

I also keep in a thing of plughole unblocker, kettle descaler, furniture polish, and wd40

IamEarthymama · 06/11/2021 11:59

My smol order just arrived, I hade fabric conditioner but sent for trial of cleaning spray top

I like Method too, also the homemade sprays.

I try not to use so much bleach.

I am hoping to change things in my work too.

FinallyFluid · 06/11/2021 12:08

I'd add washing up liquid for dishes, washing powder for clothes, a bucket and mop, toilet bleach, cloths and sponges. You can doost things with your all purpose cleaner. If you have a spray bottle to dilute some into that's easier than using a bucket for windowsills etc
Pegasussnail · 15/02/2022 20:48

I love the dr Beckham carpet cleaner for rugs and door mats etc

I tend to use any kind of cheap kitchen spray and own brand bleach for toilets

I love the Dettol spray in a tin can for rims of toilets. It’s great on mirrors.
