how can i get rid of sick smells from carpet- smells very bad!!

Hello - my son was sick all over beige carpet - cleaned with washing up liquid and water and have steamed every with carpet steamer and put febreze on but it still smells terrible.

Beige carpet - don't want to discolour carpet as house is on the market.

Any ideas. thank you very much in advance!!

Bicarb of soda. The instructions are often on the back of the packet.

thank you - will this work if he was on friday/saturday morning and so area is dry?? Do i just sprinkle bicarb on dry carpet?

Sprinkle on carpet, leave for a few hours or pref overnight, then hoover up.

HAVE TRIED THIS AND THE SMELL IS STILL THERE. IT SMELLS TERRIBLE. SHALL I USE A CARPET SHAMPOO?

Try wetting the carpet again and really scrub to lift the fibres up, cover well with bicarb which will absorb the water and then smell, leave overnight and hoover when dry, this has always worked for me!

Not sure if this would work but what about that stuff they sell in pet shops for getting rid of animal urine smells? Our cat has had a few accidents on the carpet and it worked really well. We also used it on our sofa after dh put a leaking bin bag with stinky decomposing meat in it on the sofa. You have to really saturate the area, and as it dries (over a couple of days) it smells worse but then the smell goes away completely.

Ok just went and checked the Nature's Miracle bottle - it says it works on urine, vomit, faeces and food! So would give it a try if you can get hold of some (it's quite expensive though).

Bought some carpet 1001 no vac foam and he has worked brilliantly. no smell anymore! definitelty recommend it. thanks

Always use cold water when cleaning vomit too or you cook the proteins in it and set the smell and stain. Yuk. Bicarb is a miracle for this usually.
