Where do you store "half dirty" clothes?

... things that are worn but you'll wear again before washing, like jeans and jumpers? I don't want to put them back in a drawer with the clean clothes. They currently hang around on the backs of chairs, looking messy.

I hang them on the bannisters or fold them and put them on the chest of drawers in the bedroom

Isn't that what the bedroom chair is for? Smile

freelions · 29/08/2021 23:26

I kind of hang them accross the top of my wash basket

PinkFootstool · 29/08/2021 23:27

Floordrobe. Yes I'm 40.

FoofOfTheWalkingDead · 29/08/2021 23:28

They hang out on the lid of my washing basket and make my room look messy. Would love a better solution.

AuntieStella · 29/08/2021 23:28

Floordrobe

doublehelix · 29/08/2021 23:29

In usual place (hanger or shelf) but inside out as code for worn once

ErrolTheDragon · 29/08/2021 23:30

I have a hook on my door which can take a couple of hangers, and trousers hang off the end of my bookcase.
Sometimes hangers on the wardrobe doors too.

Agadorsparticus · 29/08/2021 23:30

I have a drawer especially for 'wear again' clothes. I'll have a clear out to the laundry if it needs filling to do a wash though.

KintsugiCat · 29/08/2021 23:32

I have set of over door hooks for the cupboard door and hang things up on hangers so the creases drop out and they air a bit.

I've hooks on the back of the wardrobe (also a floordrobe)

MMMarmite · 29/08/2021 23:40

I'm glad it's not just me Grin

@doorhelix Inside out is an innovative solution!

Maybe door hooks is the best way forward.

I like the drawer idea too, @Agadorsparticus though I'd have to train myself to look in there first before reaching for a fresh one.

If they're hangable, in one side of the wardrobe facing the other way from all the other clothes.
If they're not, they get laid over the bedroom chair.
If too much builds up, they go into the wash!

Kite22 · 30/08/2021 00:23

Isn't that the reason for having a chair in your bedroom ?

Maria1982 · 30/08/2021 00:25

Over the side of laundry basket. Or on bedroom chair (isn’t that what it’s for indeed?). Messy but needs must.
Think I would forget about them if they went into special drawer…

Reflections2021 · 30/08/2021 00:36

Narrow clothes rail, can hang such items that are not clean but not needing to be cleaned yet on hangers (for this purpose, as the rail is on view at all times, purchase some decent ones that complement the stand - not the plastic freebie ones from store). You get some nice rails e.g. with a drawer or shelf at the bottom so handy for storing other items or a wash basket that can hold properly dirty clothes that are ready for washing (instead of having a laundry hamper taking up more floor space). Look online at the former catalogue store now in partnership with one of the supermarkets or on the famous online platform that can usually get it to you next day Wink.

It’s been a game changer in our house, and found one that complements our wardrobes - hence the rail looks a bit of a feature.

Scarby9 · 30/08/2021 00:41

My wardrobe is free standing. I hang jeans, dresses etc to be worn again on clothes hangers off the end/side of the wardrobe. Then if I don't rewear them after a day or two or whatever reason, they go back in the wardrobe, having been suitably aired.

Snugglybuggly · 30/08/2021 00:45

On the half clean clothes chair

JedEye · 30/08/2021 00:47

I once read that if you’ve worn an item and it’s clean enough to wear again then you can put it back in the wardrobe. If it’s not then just wash it. Which means there isn’t a need for a halfway house/floor/ chair.

Crikeycroc · 30/08/2021 00:49

I have a full length mirror from ikea with a narrow rail on the back. I just throw the item on a hanger and hang it there.

LemonSwan · 30/08/2021 01:09

We bought a wood ladder for draping. But DP has such a bloody collection theres never any space for me.

So I fold and put on my dressing table stool

LemonSwan · 30/08/2021 01:11

This kind of thing.. www.maisonsdumonde.com/UK/en/p/decorative-ladder-in-oak-ines-173594

Hanging pegs over door if stuff will crease or on chair if it doesn't.

I don’t trust my sense of smell enough for that! Two wears of a top is usually fine but I wouldn’t want to push it indefinitely.
ApolloandDaphne · 30/08/2021 06:57

I just put them back in the wardrobe. They aren't actually dirty and won't contaminate the other stuff in your wardrobe.
