Cordless vacuum cleaners - are Dyson still considered the creme de la creme?

Mine's on the blink and I am instantly replacing it. It's put in seven years' daily service and is generally good, although a bit temperamental and prone to blockages. Is that just the way of things with cordless hoovers, or should I change my allegiance?

Is it a Dyson you have? From the V10 onwards the cordless Dysons are a totally different from what I’ve seen/experienced. Invested in a V10 3 years ago and haven’t looked back, it’s brilliant. I hear people saying good things about the Shark cordless but in the comparisons I’ve seen between the V10 and newer and a shark, the dyson wins

We previously had a dyson but got a shark cordless about a year ago and it's brilliant.

Our Dyson cordless is a bit ropey. The filter constantly needs washed and it's a pain because it takes 24 hours to dry. When it's gone we will probably try a Shark.

I have a Miele Cat and Dog, I'd never have any other kind of vacuum cleaner.

Sorry, just realised you said cordless

You really need to maintain the filters on a Dyson to get the best out of it. They do take a while to dry out so it's worth buying a second set to have a constant supply on the go. You can get non Dyson ones fairly cheaply. I saw a pack of 3 of the two filters you need for around £15 off Amazon.

I've got the V8 absolute so it's got a head for hard floors and one for carpets and it's about 6 or 7 years old now and it works great. It rarely gets a day off!

I swapped from a dyson to a shark and have no regrets at all, it definitely has more suction, the hairwrap function is brilliant as I have long hair and that caused issues with the dyson. It's great for cat hair and it comes with two batteries which makes things lots easier.

I couldn't vac my entire house on the dyson battery even when it was new. I can easily finish the job in one go with the shark.

Our Dyson cordless is a bit ropey. The filter constantly needs washed and it's a pain because it takes 24 hours to dry. When it's gone we will probably try a Shark we get spare filters to avoid this, they're cheap now.

I'm not sure I'd replace my Dyson at all tbh.

I've got a Dyson V11 Absolute and it's fab. Never had a blockage in nearly 2 years. I've got 6 cats, so it gets put to work several times a day!
