Bit of a late start; accountability cleaning thread

Dh and dc have gone away for weekend. I am meant to be cleaning but I haven't started yet.

Anyone fancy an afternoon of housework with the Olympics on in the background? And posting your lists here for accountabiliity's sake? ( Otherwise I'll be tempted to nest on sofa and watch the pole vault.)

✅ carried three boxes up two flights of stairs (three more to go)
✅ 30 mins tidying sitting room (needs more work) ✅ chucked three bunches dying flowers
✅ moved some furniture about
✅ stacked dw

Two slow cookers was the best decision ever. Especially in the heat we’ve had; can do the main and a side in the!

I’m trying to sort things out to move house too; it’s driving me up the wall. I just seem to be making it messier (side bar, I have ADHD which doesn’t help with things like this!) and DCs 13/10 are making more mess than my 5YO Hmm

Goodallsfolly · 31/07/2021 15:48

I hear you about the dc GetTaeFuck . Just discovering that most of the mess in the sitting room.is not caused by me or dh!

I have two wms. Really helps (especially if weather is sunny).

[Grumpy aside[ wtf does no one else put anything away in this house after using it? Really pisses me off Angry

I did not do a thing yesterday but I have done the dishwasher and washing machine this machine, mostly changed the bed clothes and just having a coffee before I do the next job which is working my way through the house with the feather duster.

@tootiredtobother I will not be dusting plants but can I come to your house? It sounds so nice and you sound like the perfect host

ShadesOfMagenta · 01/08/2021 08:52

Was just lurking here for some inspiration.

Yesterday I did 2 loads of washing, changed 2 beds and removed hair from the hoover and brought the hoover upstairs....

Contemplating hoovering upstairs...

I have a tip for @Theunamedcat - re the PS3 and YouTube - could you get a chromecast for that TV and then stream YouTube that way?

Letthelightoflove · 01/08/2021 10:54

I’ve done the feather dusting so next job is the “proper” dusting. Upstairs first! Oh and putting the duvet cover on.

GetTaeFuck · 01/08/2021 11:01

DD3 has head lice so that’s knocked 2 hours of my morning, combing, putting the stuff on, washing it out, combing again whilst wet, then drying it and doing with the battery powered zapper Envy < gross

Need to check DD2s hair however she’s autistic, hates being touched and cannot sit still. They’re very close and it wouldn’t surprise if she has them - also, her hair is very thick and almost waist length.

Fucking SIGH.

Eldest DD keeps disappearing with her phone whenever I remind her of her chores - the phone will be removed for the day if she doesn’t stop faffing about.

Sat in my living room now and I can see

  • 2 empty smoothie cartons
  • honey
  • ketchup
  • a bottle of Ribena
  • a plate with crumbs on

All of which were not there when I went to bed to read at 9:30pm.

Letthelightoflove · 01/08/2021 11:18

@GetTaeFuck that sounds frustrating. Good luck with the head lice.

Seesawmummadaw · 01/08/2021 14:43

Having a slow day today!
Washed cat litter tray
Washed bath mats and uniform
Dishwasher on
Kitchen sides wiped down

I need to change the bed, hoover and dust the hallway and clean the shower doors. I really can’t be bothered.

Seesawmummadaw · 01/08/2021 14:44

Oh and a double decker bus size pile of laundry to fold.

Letthelightoflove · 01/08/2021 14:57

Could you do a couple of them?

Goodallsfolly · 01/08/2021 15:31

Hello everyone, sorry to be appearing so late. Had a dog mini- emergency but all ok now.

How is everyone getting on? Really well looking at all these lists! Very energising...!

Just going to post my achievements so far today and then catch up with you all...

✅ hung up early morning washing
✅re-fed washing machine
✅ folded dry laundry
✅ finished tidying sitting room (this took ages)
✅carried 3 boxes stuff upstairs
✅carried 3 boxes downstairs
✅ more cardboard & paper recycling
✅ empty dw
✅ sorted post

GetTaeFuck sorry about the head lice; such a pita and time sucker.

And sympathies with keeping tthe crapola out of the living room. If the rug didn't need a clean, I would show you the six boxes (I kid you not) full of teen dc stuff lined up on it, which I have pulled off sofas, sideboard, pouffe, top of cupboard, mantelpiece and dining room table.

Basically, in this house, a clear horizontal surface is just seen as a place to dump belongings that should be put away elsewhere.

Good luck with laundry mountain Seesawmummadaw and everything else. I am finding motivation hard atm and feel hideous for first 20 mins or so and then it comes slightly more easily. I reward myself with a short blast of the Olympics or a You Tube video once I have finished a 20 or 30 minute cleaning stint.

ShadesofMagenta good luck with getting hair out of shower plug; one of my least favourite jobs .. I have teen dds with long hair

Are you around Scottyandwestie how's it going?

Goodallsfolly · 01/08/2021 15:49

Well done changing the beds Letthelightoflove

OP posts:
Goodallsfolly · 01/08/2021 15:53

Sorry ShadesofMagenta I misread your post there. See you are removing hair from hoover not shower! Both are a pita Grin. We have short haired dogs so hard floors downstairs but the amount of hair that gets in the hoover is mind boggling.

OP posts:
Goodallsfolly · 01/08/2021 15:54

Hate lugging the hoover up and downstairs too.
