Basically, when we moved in 3 years ago the ceiling had just been painted and then xp just painted the walls.

He did a very crap job of it though, didn't even finnish it, and so I want to buy some more of the same paint and just finnish it off, give it another coat etc.

Do I really have to paint the ceiling too ?? It is white, and no one smokes in here at all so imo it looks fine.
I am going to do the skirting, door frames etc.

You might find when you have a nice shiny coat of gloss paint that the ceiling doesn't look so white. However, in my experience the bright white effect doesn't last long anyway.

So long as there aren't any annoying patches on the ceiling you have been gazing up at daily for the last 3 years, I would give it a miss.

No don't bother with cieling - I've done all the walls in our new house (an old house actually) but only done 1 cieling. Didn't bother with skirting either where I could get away with it. No-one looks there anyway.

Oh good thanks, I won't bother then.

I wsa going to say you might want to do it if the walls look all fresh and new and make the ceiling look not!

Thing is, it is a huge room and will take me forever, plus I can't really afford to buy the ceiling paint and the wall paint.
