Shark anti hair wrap vacuums

TyneTeas · 20/05/2021 19:47

Are they any good , please?

(Particularly the hair not getting wrapped round brush bit)

Am sick of spending as long hacking hair off the brush of my current one as actually vacuuming

I have one and it’s ok, not perfect as some hair still gets wrapped around the brush but nowhere near as much as with a normal hoover and the stuff that does get stuck you can easily pull off with fingers whereas before I needed to remove the whole brush and cut it off with scissors!

I have a Samoyed who sheds like there is no tomorrow so feel I’ve given it a pretty good test!

Suction is excellent too so I’d definitely get another.

I've got two (not my choice, blame DH).

First we got a cordless as my DH wanted the convenience. He then decided it wasn't as powerful as a corded and ended up with a corded one too.

Something to bear in mind, but overall we've found them to be decent.

Its a million times better than the Dyson ever was, I used to have to give that bastard a trim every few days. The Shark is grand at actually sucking up the hair, not giving it a curly perm on the bastard twirly stick thing.

I love mine. In particular, weirdly, I love the headlights on it. Who knew that was what vacuums were missing.

mommybear1 · 21/05/2021 10:26

I agree with @Si1ver great machine and the headlights are a revelation I thought they were quite gimmicky but no they are great 👍🏻

Keepyourdistance000 · 21/05/2021 10:28

I love mine. Much better and quieter than my old Dyson, which kept getting hair caught in it and was really noisy too. The Shark is also easier to empty.

whataballbag · 21/05/2021 10:29

It's good but my hair still gets wrapped round it but I shed hair like a shaved bear to be fair to it

Ooh thanks, really appreciate the replies

Hi I would like to draw your attention to two issues with shark vacuum uprights. The first issue is the five year warranty. It will not cover you if the lower duct pipe goes. The lower duct pipe draws all dust etc from the base of the vac up into the dust box. It is one of the most frequent parts to fail on shark vacuums and is made of extremely poor quality plastic. When you contact shark they tell you that this is natural wear and tear and not covered within 5 year warranty.
Here’s the naughty bit .... shark will not sell you a replacement duct hose, they simply don’t supply them. You can buy one on line of equally dubious quality but if you fit it you invalidate your warranty ( for what that’s worth).
Sharks solution is to buy a new vacuum replacement click on head at a cost of £70.
My vacuum is just under 3 years old and used on my living room floor carpet. The rest of my house is tiled or laminate .my daughters vacuum which had the same problem is two years old.
The duct hoses online average £5 so it’s pretty clear to me why shark have this policy.
In summary a good vacuum BUT expect problems within 2-3 years that will be costly and also expect poor customer service.

We had the old cordless upright that started cutting out after two years, the hair used to be a nightmare you had to take the roller off and cut it out. They replaced it under warranty with the anti hairwrap model and it is so much better, even the little motorised pet head is better. We have a cat and are quite a hairy family, long thick curly hair that sheds a lot, it does the job well.

BluebellsGreenbells · 23/05/2021 09:32

Love mine. Like PP said you still get some hair but it’s lifted away from the main part of the roller, so if you need to cut it the scissors have access abs it’s a quick job.

Davros · 24/05/2021 23:42

Some GTech have a brush you can take out and clean. I like mine and it's very easy

freeandfierce · 24/05/2021 23:52

Shark is amazing, I've had most other make it none compare. My hair is long and thick and I she'd plenty, plus two long haired cats. My vax was a nightmare for hair but do far my shark has been amazing. Usually really good offers on their website.

Brilliant, thank you. I'm ordering a new vacuum for my dad this week, and this is the one I had in mind.
