Storing a mixer in the cupboard - suction feet stick!

I just know someone will have an ingenious trick for this but what do I do to stop the suction feet on my mixer from sticking to the shelf when I put it away. It makes getting it in and out of the cupboard a right pain. I have tried to remove the suction things to no avail. First world problems, I get it but grrr it's annoying when I desperately want to be good at putting things away.

Place it on a silicone mat, teatowel or folded newspaper sheet?

Of course!! Brilliant, knew you wouldn't let me down. I have some roll up placemats that will do the job. Thank you.

(Opposite problem here, but in case it's of help to anyone)

My food processor is too heavy for me to lift, so I keep it on a small melamine tray in the corner of the worktop, then slide it over when I need it. I do use it most days. My lottery win would involve a fancy appliance cupboard!

I would sit it on a tray
