Parcelforce have just delivered my brand spanking new irobot scooba- new model. Ordered from us and didn't get stung for any import tax or anything and arrived in about 10 days.

dh is putting it on to charge as we speak and i will report back tomorrow when it has done its maiden voyage!

looking on ebay us they all look more expensive.. was it a one off sale or a shop?
Thanks!

preggersagain · 15/11/2007 15:19

regular ebay seller- got some off for buying two but only $40 (about £20)

the 5900 can be bought including shipping for £145 from ebay us- the 5900 includes all acc as well!

Think (hope) that dh is sorting this for Christmas for me already, but you've got me all excited again now.

I guess you didn't get a warranty buying yours this way did you?

OK so Roomba owners-which one do I go for-there are dozens of models [confused emoticon]

preggersagain · 16/11/2007 09:43

csws- the warranty was registered to the ebay seller- so iof there is ever a problem i send it to them and they contact irobot as if it is theirs

on the roomba side minimum model i'd go for is the discovery- the charging base makes a hell of a diffrence, if budget allows go for a scheduler- then program and leave it to it

oh and jura- remember the states is in financial tatters- exchange rate is fab atm- and they are desperate to sell anything because the americans are holding back fearing the worst!! Take advantage of the situation- they'd do it to us

OP posts:
Buda · 16/11/2007 09:54

They sound fab! Am tempted! Wonder if I could have shipped to Hungary?

My house very large though and downstairs is open plan. Would it still be OK do you think?

KathG · 08/12/2007 15:06

scooba has landed - we did have to pay for import has been named "little one" by dds - first clean of our hall floor was disgusting, despite it having been mopped earlier in the day! so impressed. Thanks for the suggestion preggersagain.

andaRubberDuckinapeartree · 08/12/2007 15:15

Oh I so want one.

Question: how do Roombas cope with stairs or do you just have to hoover the stairs separately every now and then?

preggersagain · 08/12/2007 15:17

yes manual hoovering on stairs i'm afraid

(jeez- some people are just sooooooo lazy says the woman who doesn't know how to turn on her dyson )

OP posts:
andaRubberDuckinapeartree · 08/12/2007 15:20

lol ... lazy, moi?!

Actually, would probably prefer to do hoovering manually (have to do my lego spot check in every single room anyway ). But hate washing the kitchen floor... so, so tempting.

How well does it cope with the corners?

preggersagain · 08/12/2007 15:25

its all round pretty good- we have the floors steam cleaner fortnightly so that deals with any corner crud that lurks You do occasionally have to do a big clean!

OP posts:
andaRubberDuckinapeartree · 08/12/2007 15:34

Pfft, that's no good - I want it to do the lot AND make a cup of tea

preggersagain · 08/12/2007 15:48

tssssk

You've got it wrong there- you're expecting too much it does the mopping up so that YOU have time to make a cup of tea!! Actually i often stand mesmerized by the damn thing- watching it dance around the house [saddo]

OP posts:
andaRubberDuckinapeartree · 08/12/2007 15:52

Not a saddo ... just embracing your inner Geek

That's another reason I want one actually - fascinated with the whole technology behind it.

preggersagain · 08/12/2007 16:01

oh sod the technology- it dances round the kitchen and occasionally sings a song its fab- i'm off home now to catch it out- my roombas are schedulers so between 4 and 5 pm they should both be hoovering- wonder if i'll catch them on a tea break

I just found this thread and wondered if any of the people on this thread who bought one all that time ago are still happy with them? I've read a lot about them not lasting long - anybody had that problem?

Also have they gone up drastically in price or are there newer models out now? the prices mentioned on this list seem to be about double now...

abermum · 27/03/2009 14:53

still have mine and love it (formerly preggersagain!) still dances round our tiled entrance hall nad kitchen daily and does the bathrooms every couple of days!

landrover · 04/01/2010 13:26
